Announcement: A mobile abattoir business is about to be launched in the Hunter. Join with us in launching this new business opportunity for livestock producers across the region. Please read the project overview and complete the Farmer Survey below to express your interest or to obtain further information.

What is a Mobile Abattoir?

The mobile abattoir coming to the Hunter is a fully self contained mobile abattoir capable of processing livestock directly on farm for commercial use.

Who is Promoting this Project?

This project is being brought to the Hunter by farmers in the Upper Hunter. This project is being run by farmers for the benefit of farmers across the region.

Why was this Project Initiated?

This project was started as a direct result of farmer experience in the last drought and the need to provide greater choice for farmers selling livestock and to grow opportunities for employment in our region.

What is the Mobile Abattoir Business?

This business consists of:

· A fully self contained mobile abattoir which comes to the farm and takes all animal product and waste away

· A chiller for hanging carcasses

· A boning/butchering operation

· A retailing/marketing operation

What are the Benefits to Livestock Producers?

There are many benefits to farmers using this new business:

· A new channel to sell their livestock

· Playing a part in the development of a new brand

· Enhanced feedback on carcass quality

· Improved animal welfare outcomes and meat quality because livestock are not transported

· Competitive pricing through the cycle

· Be part of a growing farm tourism and artisan food industry based in our area

· Increased employment and local job opportunities

Can I Invest in this New Business?

Yes. We encourage livestock producers and other members of the local community to invest and be part of this new business in our region.

Please join us by completing the online survey to express your interest in this new and exciting business for our region or to obtain further information on what it means for you.

If you have more than 1 property in different locations (> 50km apart) to be included in the mobile abattoir, please fill out the survey for each location.

How long does it take to fill out the survey?

About 7 minutes

How long before we hear back from the project team?

There will be a 6 week timeframe for distributing the survey, filling it out and returning it to the Project team. We will be in contact with the interested farmers once this is complete, from the end of November.

Provenir is a vertically integrated meat processing company,
operating Australia’s first, and only, mobile on-farm abattoir.

We partner with grass-fed cattle farmers, to purchase and process livestock at the point of production. Provenir’s award winning, co-branded beef is available in retail outlets, on the menu of the best restaurants, and direct to consumers online.

The Provenir process eliminates stress to animals associated with live transport. Unique to Provenir, our partnering farmers are in control of their cattle throughout the whole process, ensuring highest animal welfare at all times - which in turn produces exceptional quality beef.

Dedicated to innovation, sustainability and community,
Provenir partners with regenerative cattle farmers, and through a world first digital traceability platform, provides true provenance of every cut of beef to the farm.
