Last week, Miss Sophie invited the Sugar Gliders to participate in an experience within our natural outdoor environment. A variety of natural loose parts, including seed pods, small pine cones, and pieces of bark, were provided alongside brown paper on clipboards featuring Indigenous symbols.
This experience supported the children's social wellbeing by encouraging cooperation, communication, and a sense of belonging within the group. It also fostered a connection to the land by inviting children to engage with natural materials and recognise the importance of caring for and appreciating the environment. Through these meaningful experiences during NAIDOC Week, the children are developing an emerging awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the significance of connecting with Country.
