Sometimes to create systemic change we need to think big. In this instance it means putting children before profits. This is something government can do as a course of action to protect children, and they can do this immediately. This is not an unreasonable request. We cannot afford to allow profits to have an impact on child safety and a workforce that feels unsupported. This is not to say profits are evil. Profits allow services to grow, to pay for the unexpected and plan for the future. But there is something terribly wrong when massive profits end up overseas fuelled by taxpayers’ money. How can this be acceptable during a time of crisis when we know more money should be directed towards improved ratios, better qualifications (no more fast tracked qualifications delivered by questionable providers), and a system where leaders are not strapped to their desk trying to survive paperwork. We can’t tinker on the edges. Children are at harm, and this is a no longer a secret. If we don’t act, if government doesn’t act, if the system doesn’t act, then we have all failed children.
Such an amazing turn out yesterday to stand collaboratively and send an important message to our State Government.

Minns has picked the wrong fight with preschool teachers They're loved, their pay is unfair, and their patience has run out.
