St Anne's Catholic Primary School Sarina St Anne’s Catholic Primary School was founded by the Sisters of Mercy and officially opened 23 May 1925.

The unique community of faith engendered by the Mercy Sisters continues today in an atmosphere enhanced by our Catholic Identity. The land on which our school was built, was donated by Mrs Beagrie, for the church. About 1917, Mons Mulcahy purchased a further 1½ acres from Mrs Beagrie for the school. Fr Tom Hogan (first parish priest) had been asking for a community of Sisters to come to Sarina wh

ich was a Scottish settlement, consisting mainly of non-Catholics. This settlement had great respect for the Sisters and wished their children to attend the Catholic school. In 1925, three Sisters laid the foundation of Catholic education here in Sarina. They were Srs Mary Laurence Hogan, Celestine McCarthy and Joan Woods. On the 23 May 1925, the new school was blessed and opened by the then Bishop, Bishop Joseph Shiel. The school had an enrolment of 53 students with 66 by end of that year. The school continues to serve the Sarina community with a catholic education whilst promoting and living the Mercy Tradition.
