Here's a guitar that is a bit more interesting. Based on the Yamaha silent guitar this is my version. It used mainly New Guinea Rosewood, a little Blackwood and a Gidgee fretboard and bridge for what is a silent guitar that can be plugged in to either a headphone amp (to keep everyone else happy whilst practising) or a PA like I do at church. I love challenging myself and my students with builds like this.

So this guitar build was a bit different! It is based on a 1986 Fender Katana. They only made them for one year and were a commercial failure. If only they had painted them this brilliant Candy Apple Burnt Orange and put in some screaming Kent Armstrong Pickups (21.5K output each!) they might have succeeded. No plans exist that I could find so it is a "from scratch" build with a stunning paint job from Phil Dawson. Now I have to learn some metal!

I’m am blessed to be able to do what I do. This is my latest build I have underway. It is a 15” archtop with Walnut back and sides and a spruce top. I love this part of the build, nearing the end but not quite there yet. Final decisions to be made, testing in the raw before being sprayed. All that work planning to get an outcome and then hearing the first song that is played. Can’t wait!!!

Yet another Tenor guitar but this one's for me! I love using Australian timbers and this one has a few. QLD Kauri soundboard, QLD Maple back and sides, QLD Maple neck, Coolabah burl rosette, Gidgee bridge, Tiger Myrtle headstock veneer. It sounds so lovely. Thanks Curly Timbers, Joel Dubbeld and Boutique Timbers for the great Aussie woods.
