An insightful review calling for more valid and reliable research methodology and caution about generalisations, following a UK study method. For example, only 5 Tas. teachers surveyed in this Centre for Independent Studies’ study of 377 from our national population (.116%) of 325,191 FTE teachers in schools!

ACS is inviting educators from across Australia to participate in the ACS Digital Technologies Education Survey 2026.

The survey seeks to better understand how digital technologies education is being delivered, the opportunities and challenges facing educators, and the support needed to help students develop the knowledge and skills required in an increasingly digital world.

By taking part, participants will help build a national understanding of:
📚 how computing and digital technologies education is being delivered across schools
📚 teacher confidence, capability and professional learning needs
📚 the impact of emerging technologies, including AI
📚 access to resources and support
📚 challenges and opportunities affecting digital education
📚 changes and trends over time

The findings will contribute to a growing national evidence base that supports ACS's engagement with the education and technology sectors and helps inform future initiatives relating to digital technologies education in Australia.

If you're an educator involved in teaching, leading or supporting computing and digital technologies education in Australian schools, whether digital technologies is taught as a dedicated subject or integrated across broader teaching practice, your perspective is valuable.

How a change in focus could lead to better NAPLAN outcomes

…the conversation defaults to instruction, because that is the lever policymakers [have] …Instruction remains essential, and nothing here argues against it. Invitation to school staff: have a say about enabling children and young people in Out-Of-Home Care to be at school.

Ethics approval for this survey from the University of Tasmania Human Research Ethics Committee, Project Number H0040541.

If students are not at school they can’t benefit from all that school has to offer – not just for learning but also for wellbeing and social-emotional development. Students in out-of-home care (OOHC) are absent from school far more than their peers.

Professor Kitty te Riele and colleagues from five universities are doing research to explore how to support students in OOHC to be at school just like their peers.

This survey is open to not just school leaders and teachers, but also teacher assistants, social workers, counsellors, Aboriginal Education Workers, occupational therapists, school nurses and anyone else working with students in OOHC in schools.
