What a game!! 🏐

Staff and students gathered this afternoon in the N J Edwards Hub for a fast paced game of netball! The jumps were high, the stops were quick and the ball flew around the court in an exciting contest.

Congratulations to the students on taking the win! Looks like all those Sport lessons must have paid off! 🦁

Our Hutchins Kindergarten students have loved regularly visiting the residents at Queenborough Rise for chats, songs and sharing. Recently, we’ve even enjoyed music therapy sessions together, with Selina on acoustic guitar and everyone joining in with a singalong!

Last week, Kindergarten King were very lucky to be invited to a Teddy Bear’s Picnic, complete with songs, scones, teddy bears and of course, a few very happy sugar highs!

We are so grateful to Clare Lampkin and the wonderful residents at Queenborough Rise for welcoming our students so warmly and helping us nurture connection, kindness and a genuine sense of community.

These special intergenerational experiences beautifully reflect our Round Square IDEALS of Service and Compassion, giving our students opportunities to connect with others, share joy and learn the value of caring for and contributing to our wider community.

On a lovely spring morning, we welcomed dads, grandfathers, mentors and families from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 5 for our annual Father’s Day Breakfast on the Junior School basketball courts.

With Year 12 students and staff on the barbeques, there were plenty of egg and bacon rolls enjoyed as well hot chocolates and coffees from the Bean and Leaf coffee van. 🥓☕🌸

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and enjoyed the morning’s activities and to the Year 12 students and staff for their support of this special community event. 👏

Here are some highlights from the morning!

A huge thank you to our School community for your generosity in supporting this year’s Great Book Swap, both through your wonderful book donations and by purchasing books on Wednesday.

It was wonderful to see so many students heading home with new-to-them books to enjoy. We hope they bring plenty of reading joy!

Together, our community has raised over $637 (not including donations made online) for The Indigenous Literacy Foundation , supporting its work to provide books, resources and literacy opportunities to First Nations communities.

If you would still like to support this important cause, you can make a donation online https://greatbookswap.org.au/o/the-hutchins-s-chool

We were delighted to welcome Austin Yip from St Paul’s Co-educational College (SPCC), Hong Kong, to Hutchins over the past few weeks. Hosted by Year 10 student Ned Marshall, Austin quickly became part of the Hutchins community and made the most of his time experiencing school life and exploring Hobart and the East Coast of Tasmania.

SPCC is one of Hong Kong’s most well-regarded schools, renowned for its academic excellence and outstanding co-curricular programs. Hutchins and SPCC have developed a strong relationship through the Round Square network, with our students having participated in exchanges and conferences together over many years.

We look forward to welcoming our next exchange opportunity and to Ned's reciprocal visit to SPCC later this year!

Today we had the pleasure of hosting Middle and Senior School dads, grandfathers and special friends for egg and bacon rolls and coffee 🍳🥓☕️

It was so lovely to see everyone gather together and, in some cases, multiple generations!

Thank you to Mr Shaun Killian for organising this BBQ as a fundraiser for Rugby. We appreciated Dr Rob McEwan and Ms Lauren Carr, as well as students, who assisted with this event.

Thank you for joining us 🦁
