'Music at Midday' on 23 August was a delightful concert outing from the TYO ensembles. TYO appeared at The Farrall Centre thanks to the generous support of The Friends' School: thank you for making such a splendid venue possible for TYO’s young Tasmanian musicians! The exceptional musicians of the TYO Chamber Orchestra, TYO Percussion Ensemble, TYO Sinfonietta, TYO Camerata Strings and TYO Tasmanian Junior Chorale delivered vibrant and polished performances, delighting a large audience with some outstanding musicianship – and repertoire ranging from Mussorgsky to Bizet to (for real) A-Ha… Bravi to everyone involved!

✨ Hands up who saw TYO (quite literally) up in lights?! ✨ HUGE thanks to the lovely team at Resilience Marketing for offering TYO a month of space on a digital billboard on one of Hobart's busiest traffic routes. ❤ The billboard attracted lots of positive notice and comments – especially as Hobart turned on its trademark spectacular winter skies to add a bit of background drama...

Congratulations to TYO musician, Avery Adamczewski, for being a recipient of the 2027 Clarence Jazz Festival Scholarship along side Noah Davies and Anders Newbold!
They were selected from a strong field of applicants for their musical ability, commitment to jazz, enthusiasm for collaboration, and potential for future development. The scholarship provides talented young Tasmanian musicians with mentoring, professional performance opportunities and the chance to work alongside some of the best Australian and international jazz artists.
Avery Adamczewski is a keen multi-instrumentalist, specializing in saxophones and other woodwinds, along with piano and composition. You'll see Avery on the piano at our next Tasmanian Youth Orchestra concert on 26 September!

Absolutely THRILLED for these two fine young musos, proud TYOers and all-round splendid humans: huge congrats Will and Sophia! ❤🌟❤ Will played with TYO from 2015-2022 before heading to the Sydney Con; and Sophia is a current cellist with the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra, so we know both of them well and we're utterly delighted to celebrate their TSO Rising Star awards.

It is testament to the depth and maturity of both Will and Sophia's artistic practice that in their interviews with TSO, they acknowledge those who have supported their musical journeys – teachers, parents and both TYO and the TSO. Thank you to you both for your kind comments and HUZZAH and congrats again on this exceptional achievement! 🎶❤🎶

Music connects us; music unites us. ❤️ 🎶 What a splendid morning it has been at TYO rehearsals! 🎶

We were delighted to welcome brass musicians from The School of Music at West Texas A&M University to rehearse with the TYO Chamber Orchestra and perform for a thrilled audience of TYO musos. Then our beloved jet-setting Naarah popped back in from London (as you do!) to her old TYO haunt for a quick visit…and all the hugs! 🧡

Huge thanks to The Friends' School for supporting the visit by the West Texas A&M team; and to The Hutchins School for the generous provision of rehearsal space.

Putting the polish on FOV prep! This morning the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra rehearsed with Sydney-based Lachlan Massey, guest conductor for Festival of Voices for the 'Young Tasmania Sings' concerts. A fun rehearsal and some gorgeous works: can't wait to hear the performances!
