What are SDGs?
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 interconnected goals designed to call for universal action to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities, and tackle climate change while ensuring that no one is left behind.
The United Nations defined quality education as ensuring "education and equal lifelong learning opportunities for all" and is the foundation upon which every other thing depends. Education is the critical vehicle for achieving most of the SDGs. The University of Tasmania has joined 650+ universities globally with a UN SDG Hub on campus.
SDG Students Hub at UTAS
SDG Students Hub at UTAS is part of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN-Youth). Our vision is to enhance education, learning, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and growth among students by utilising the 17 sustainable development goals. This new development comes with commitment and responsibilities for the students and staff within the university community.
Hinged on the University of Tasmania's years of work and numerous achievements in leading sustainability causes and implementation, the Hub would further root the University's position on the global stage.
The University of Tasmania is already committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as outlined in the Strategic Framework for Sustainability. The SDG Students Hub will be an opportunity to bridge the University's world-leading contributions to the SDGs with students, staff members, and the broader Tasmanian community.
