๐ KOT BOOK OF THE MONTH: THE ODD FISH! ๐
With June being World Environment Month, we have selected the absolute perfect story to dive into across the centre. We are so excited to introduce our June Book of the Month: The Odd Fish by Naomi and James Jones! ๐๐
This beautiful picture book follows the story of Little Fish and her family, who encounter a very strange, lonely โodd fishโ bobbing along in the ocean. Determined to help, they set off on a big underwater adventure to reunite this new friend with its family. Along the way, they meet a turtle with a tummy ache and an octopus with tangled tentacles.
Clever readers will soon spot the one thing that links them all together... plastic! Little Fish soon realises that this โodd fishโ isnโt a sea creature at all, but a plastic bottle that doesnโt belong in our beautiful oceans. ๐ฆฆโจ
With World Environment Day and World Oceans Day both falling this month, this book is such a fantastic, gentle way to teach our little ones about:
Caring for our blue planet and protecting marine life.
The impact of plastic pollution and rubbish in our waterways.
Simple ways we can help, like recycling and keeping our beaches clean!
Throughout June, our educators will be using this wonderful story to inspire beautiful art projects, ocean-themed sensory tuff trays, and some fantastic discussions about sustainability. ๐จ๐ฑ
Have you read The Odd Fish at home yet? Keep an eye out for all the ocean-saving fun happening in our rooms this month! ๐๐
