Sandringham College International Student Program

Today was Celebration Day, the last day of Year 12 before our students graduate on Sunday and commence exam revision next week. Three of our International students from Italy, Cambodia and Iran are pictured with Heather their EAL teacher and Moira the International Program Coordinator. We wish these students all the best with their upcoming exams.

So incredibly proud of our two students who won awards in the Victorian Global Learning Awards 2023. Shusuke has won the Arts Achievement (Visual Arts) award and Kian has won the Global Citizenship award. Congratulations Shusuke and Kian!!

The Sandy College International Soiree - what a great night we had, sharing cultural music, food and friendship! It takes a community to deliver a fantastic international program. Thank you to everyone who was involved in our International Soiree: host families, Australian friends, teachers, international staff, alumni and of course, our fabulous international students who shared their musical and cooking talents with us.

Our international students learned how to make a meat pie in their Food Studies class. We hoped they would level up by watching an AFL football game and maybe eating a pie with sauce. But they did one better and joined the Sandy senior girls footy team. Well done to our fearless five footy players, we hope you will take some footy fun back to your home countries.

Our Wilsons Promontory camp is always jam packed with fun outdoor activities, opportunities for cultural exchange and making new friends. We had a fabulous time surfing at Waratah Bay, hiking up Mount Oberon, paddle boarding along Tidal River and camping in Meeniyan where we spotted two koalas in the tree.

A fabulous day out in Port Phillip Bay swimming with seals, dolphins and sea dragons and a leisurely afternoon stroll through Sorrento village and Sorrento back beach.

Sandringham College offers the subject, Outdoor Education, which provides students with learning opportunities of natural, outdoor environments and experiences. On this Outdoor Ed camp, our international students were able to camp, abseil, hike and explore the Grampians National Park and Gariwerd Aboriginal cultural landscape.
