WITH LEARNING AT HEART

Today to start our professional learning day our staff engaged in some group challenges based on Opti-minds challenges. They were asked to reflect on the phrase from Jonas Salk, “Hope lies in dreams, in imagination and in the courage of those who dare to make dreams a reality” They then constructed something which embodied “Where else does hope lie?” Hope is one of our Habits of the Heart, our core values at Sacred Heart.

We then spent the day moderating student assessment samples and continuing our professional development learning about strategies to support our students spelling and high impact practices.

Last Friday we joined the Sandgate community to celebrate Giddy Up Sandgate Bayside with our Active School Travel event! Did you see us riding our hobby horses, scooters and bikes through the streets of Sandgate? This year the Catholic Education Week theme is ‘Shine your light, inspire others’.
Today the students wore something shiny to remember the different ways we can all shine and inspire.

We are inspired by the work of SANDBAG and St Vincent de Paul and are supporting them with a non-perishable food drive.

Catholic Education Week

Today we gathered in liturgy to celebrate Catholic Education Week. The theme this year is ‘Share your light, inspire others’. Father Ravi shared with us the importance of sharing our light and guests from Sandbag and St Vincent de Paul helped us to launch our food drive.
We will be collecting non-perishable items next week for Sandbag and St Vincent de Paul. If you are able to donate please drop items to the Sacred Heart School office.
