Happy Mother’s Day!

I hope you all had a great day. I was out in the wilderness with no internet!

Thank you to all the men and women who have, or are currently serving to protect our country and values.

All too often our service men and women are expected to do things that the general public would never contemplate; and often under duress.

Their commitment and efforts should be appreciated.

Thank you for your service.

Lest we forget.

I’ve been wanting to try a 3D embroidery for a while. Given ANZAC Day is this month, I thought a poppy was appropriate.

I have freehand machine embroidered 4 seperate parts of the poppy.

It’s now assembled and pinned. I need to colour the pin heads and frame it.

My Scottish Thistle is finished! This piece has made me think of my Scottish grandmother , Jessie.

She was always an immaculate and gentle soul, who was also resilient. I think of her often.

Getting ready to pin my Scottish Thistle.

It will take me a couple of hours. I start in the middle, making sure it is evenly placed. I then work my way out in a radius.

My Scottish Thistle is dried and ready to pin and frame.

Pinning takes considerable time. By lifting the embroidery off the background, you can see the intricacy and delicacy of the stitches. And it creates beautiful shadows as the light passes through it.

Then I need to mix paint to cover all the pin heads so that you can’t see them.

Happy Easter! Wishing you and your loved ones a relaxing and safe Easter 🐣 🐣

I’ve been busy making sourdough Hot Cross Buns. Thanks Leah for the recipe. They are the best I have ever had…even if I say so myself!

I’ve been busy making some enamel earrings (with more on the way).

All earrings are made with copper and vitreous enamel (glass) and sterling silver ear wires.

All earrings are wired are handmade. Each pair is unique, with an element of wabi sabi.
