Even pirates can read! Students in 3A have been busy reviewing their fluency reading goals. It takes a number of skills to read fluently, as shown in these posters. Have you got all the skills you need to read fluently?

🏴‍☠️ DRESS LIKE A PIRATE DAY! 🏴‍☠️
Ahoy, Sandgate State School! International Talk Like a Pirate Day is on Saturday 19 September, so we’re getting in early and celebrating on the last day of Term 3 – Friday 18 September! ⚓🐢
Students and staff are invited to dress like a pirate for the day. Costumes don’t need to be fancy — a red or striped shirt, black shorts or pants, bandana, scarf, pirate hat or eye patch can make a great pirate outfit.
👟 For safety, all students must wear enclosed shoes.
🚫 No weapon props are to be brought to school, including toy swords, knives or guns.
We can’t wait to see our Sandgate pirate crew and hear plenty of “Arrrghs!” around the school! 🏴‍☠️🌴⚓

Aspley State High School are hosting a primary school girls’ football training session at Aspley on Thursday September 17 (Week 10) and they would love to invite girls from Year 4/5/6 who are interested in football to come along, meet their coaches and experience what football at Aspley is all about.

The session will provide an opportunity for girls to;

⚽ Take part in a fun and engaging football training session
👟 Train with experienced Aspley football coaches
🦅 Meet current Aspley Football Academy students
🏫 Experience the football program and see what opportunities are available at Aspley State High School
🤝 Meet other girls from local primary schools who share an interest in football

There is no requirement for students to currently be playing at a high level. High school staff would simply love to see girls who enjoy football and are keen to improve their skills.

A HUGE thank you to Angela & Janet for organising the whole thing, from the shopping to the setup to making sure it all happened.

A big thank you to Bisma Asif MP for jumping in and volunteering too! 🙌

And we couldn’t have done it without the generous support of these awesome businesses, who donated prizes and supported our raffle:

✨ Excel Diagnostic
✨ Swaad Foods
✨ Wallflower
✨ Jeays Mitre 10
✨ Bunnings Virginia
✨ Bargain City
✨ Truffle Photography

We’re so grateful for your support of our school and P&C. ❤️

🎉 And congratulations to our THREE lucky raffle winners! 🎉

Thanks to everyone who helped, donated, volunteered and generally kept the Father’s Day operation running! 💙

Another P&C mission accomplished without too many tears. Now accepting volunteers for next year…🤪💛

🎬🍿 Lights, Camera, Learning!🍿🎬

Our Prep A students had a very special cinema experience — right in their very own classroom! They transformed the room into a cinema with rows of chairs and assigned seats.
Students created their own tickets and play money to ‘buy’ a snack from our very own snack bar before having their tickets scanned at the door. There was lots of excitement as our movie-goers settled in to enjoy Room on the Broom, based on the Julia Donaldson book.

What a wonderful experience! They’ll now use their cinema adventure in English this week to recount, sequence and share their experiences!

What a fun way to learn!

This week we celebrated our wonderful Teacher Aides and the incredible contribution they make to our school community every day!

They were treated to personalised notebooks and pens, beautiful cards from our students, an amazing cake and a lovely staff afternoon tea in their honour.

A huge thank you to our P&C for their generous contribution, which helped make this special celebration possible. We are so grateful for all that our Teacher Aides do!
