Local Legend Inspires Our Year 9 Marine Students //

We were honoured to welcome local legend John "Stinker" Clarke to speak with our Year 9 Marine Studies class.

At 77 years young, Stinker has spent a lifetime on the water and has a wealth of knowledge about Port Stephens, Broughton Island, marine life, boating, and careers in the marine industry. Students were captivated by his stories, experiences, and insights from decades spent exploring our local waters.

Stinker's visit comes just weeks after a remarkable survival story that captured the attention of the community. After his boat capsized off Fingal, he spent around five hours in the water before being rescued, battling hypothermia. His resilience and positive outlook made his visit even more inspiring for our students.

As a generous gift, Stinker also donated copies of his books to our library, ensuring future students can continue learning from his incredible knowledge and experiences.

Thank you, Stinker, for sharing your time, wisdom, and passion for the marine environment with our students. It was a truly memorable experience.

We loved welcoming so many families to our Father's Day BBQ on Friday and thank everyone who joined us to make it such a special celebration.

Today, we recognise and appreciate all the dads and father figures who guide, support and encourage our students every day. Wishing you a wonderful Father's Day! 💙

Meet Olivia 💛

Olivia is one of our wonderful Year 6 students who is currently showing incredible courage and resilience as she undergoes treatment following the removal of a tumour from her spine.

The care and support she has received from the team at John Hunter Children’s Hospital has been extraordinary, and our school community would like to give back.

Over the coming weeks, our Year 5 and 6 students will be leading a special fundraising initiative to support the John Hunter Children’s Hospital and help other children and families facing similar challenges.

Today, we’d love for you to meet Olivia. Keep an eye out for another reel in the coming days, where we’ll reveal how you can get involved.

Celebrating 40 of Australia’s Best Teachers//

Wayowa Telfer has been listed in the Daily Telegraph’s list of teachers making a difference in education. Wayowa is the Head of Vocational Education and Training, VET Tourism teacher, and Careers Adviser at our college.

The "Australia’s Best Teachers" campaign recognises educators across the country who make a positive impact in the classrooms and in the school communities they serve. This initiative celebrates teachers who are nominated by students, parents, and colleagues.

Wayowa spreads joy amongst students and staff, and we are delighted to celebrate this wonderful achievement. We are grateful for the positive impact she has on our school community.
