🔬 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 🧪

What a great week of exploring, experimenting and getting stuck into all things science! This year’s theme was ‘Seeds for Science’, celebrating how small ideas can grow into big discoveries. We had some fantastic turnouts at Recess and Lunch, with students getting involved in activities including seed dissections, making their very own cress heads, dry ice experiments, liquid nitrogen demonstrations and plenty more! 🧊

A huge thank you to everyone who got involved and helped make the week so much fun, and a special thank you to our amazing Science department for putting together such a great range of activities. 👏

📚 BOOK WEEK IS COMING! 📚

Book Week is next week, and we’ve got plenty happening around the school! 🎉

🍎 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘂

Keep an eye out for the daily book-themed specials at the canteen! Each day will feature a different book-inspired item, with Wednesday’s special being part of Breakfast Club. Check out the menu below and make sure you don’t miss your favourite!

🖼️ 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 - 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 🎨

Running at lunchtime on Mondays and Thursdays, head to E6 to finish off classwork from your Arts class, experiment with materials, or bring your own supplies in to be creative at break time with your friends!

Mr Howard will be there to help you out with any artsy activities you are wanting to create. All year levels welcome - check it out!

🧪 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 - 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 🌱

All week long, we have a range of activities taking part in D3 to celebrate Science Week 2026!

This year, the theme for Science Week is ‘Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all’, and so our incredible Science department have set up a range of seed-related activities to get you all involved in.

While all these fun activities are happening, we will also be holding a ‘Guess the Seed Count in a Jar’ competition, where students are invited to drop by D3 at recess or lunch throughout Science Week and guess how many seeds are in the jar. The closest guess wins a prize! 🎁 Voting closes at the end of lunch on Friday.

What an incredible honour for our Cheer-Dance Specialist Program's Warriors team! 💙

This morning, our Warriors were invited to perform at the 2026 WASSEA (Western Australian Secondary School Executives Association) Conference at Crown Perth, a prestigious professional development and networking event with attendance from school Principals, Deputies, and education leaders from across Western Australia, such as Sabine Winton, Minister for Education WA.

The Warriors team represented Safety Bay Senior High School with the utmost pride and delivered an exceptional performance. The team will also be competing with this new routine at the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation (AASCF) WA State Championships next weekend! (22 & 23 Aug)

We are so proud of the way this team continues to grow — not only as performers, but as a group. Students from multiple year levels come together to support, encourage and celebrate each other, creating a team culture that is welcoming, tight-knit and incredibly special.

A huge congratulations to our Warriors on an unforgettable performance! 👏

In Week 6, we are celebrating Book Week here at Safety Bay Senior High School! As part of our annual celebrations, Mr. Penfold-Marwick from the English department has collated and produced the 2026 edition of the Safety Bay Senior High School Creative Writing Collection, filled with short stories, poems, illustrations and more by our very own students! 📖

If you are a friend or family member of someone who has taken part in this year's Creative Writing Collection, we would like to invite you to the Library on Wednesday 26 August to launch the book. Come along for some nibbles, readings, and a free physical copy of the Collection.

🏆 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐫-𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 ✨

What a weekend for our Cheer-Dance Specialist students! Across Saturday and Sunday, our students took to the floor for 10 routines, competing against some huge divisions and showcasing the incredible talent, dedication and teamwork they have built together.

But while the results were fantastic, it was the teamwork and culture that really stood out 💙

Throughout the weekend, we saw students step up as leaders, support their teammates, celebrate each other’s successes and constantly encourage one another. Whether they were performing, preparing backstage or cheering from the sidelines, our students demonstrated what it means to be part of a team.

Year 8 Lyrical — 6th Place
Year 9 Hip Hop — 4th Place

Year 11/12 Jazz — Overall Scholastic Dance Grand Champions 🏆 — the highest-scoring Scholastic Dance routine of the entire competition!

Our Years 7–10 Cheer teams competed against each other in a huge 10-team division, while our Dance teams also faced large divisions of up to 10 teams — making these results even more impressive.

A special thank you to our Cheer-Dance staff for their incredible support, and to alumni Amelie Lawford and Alexis Chellin for giving their time and helping our students throughout the event.

Please join us in one final huge congratulations to every student who performed, supported, encouraged and represented our school throughout the weekend – what an incredible achievement! 💙

Troy has been thoroughly enjoying his Year 12 Heavy Diesel Pre-apprenticeship through Kwinana Industries Council, well on his way to achieving his goals of securing a Mobile Plant apprenticeship. Well done Troy! 💙
