We have some exciting news to share!
While I am sure there are many questions about the acquisition of the building by Club Maitland City, you can be assured that very little will change in terms of how the service operates. Kookaburra Korner early education Centre will continue to run as the same high-quality not for profit service as it always has done.
The future of Kookaburra Korner remains positive with “the opportunity presenting a win-win scenario for all three parties, with Club Maitland City agreeing to fund and construct a brand new not-for-profit Early Education Centre nearby for Kookaburra Korner to move to, prior to the demolition of the existing centre.”

We're proud to share some exciting news for our local community 💛

We have acquired the land of Kookaburra Korner Early Education Centre from Maitland City Council, a step that helps secure the future of quality education right here in West Maitland.

This is a true win for our community. As part of the agreement, we will fund and build a brand new not-for-profit Early Education Centre nearby in the future, giving Kookaburra Korner a new home before the current centre is ever impacted.

Our CEO, Ian Martin, shared:
“Acquiring the Kookaburra Korner property is a mutual partnership ensuring that high quality childcare is operating in the West Maitland area. In the coming years a new childcare centre offering at minimum the same not-for-profit capacity will be built, resulting in even better experiences with the same dedicated day care team”

Kookaburra Korner has been part of so many local families’ journeys and we’re incredibly excited to help support its next chapter.

Here’s to continuing to grow, support, and invest in our community- together 🌱

At Kookaburra Korner, we always say we’re not just your typical day care centre… because we truly aren’t. Today we would like to shine the spotlight on one of our very own. Hails!

From the very beginning, we’ve had the privilege of watching our beautiful Hails grow – from a bright-eyed little girl at Kookaburra Korner, to a kind and nurturing educator working alongside the very people who once cared for her. We’ve seen her step into motherhood with so much love, and now, find her true love and forever after with Jacob. 💕
It fills our hearts with pride and joy to see the wonderful woman she has become, and to celebrate such a special milestone. Congratulations to Hailee and Jacob on your beautiful wedding – the perfect day for a perfect couple and their gorgeous little family. 🥂✨ Here’s to a lifetime of happiness together!

Last night, we were thrilled to host an Information Night for our amazing educators and families at Kookaburra Korner! The evening focused on building a stronger understanding of the important roles speech therapists and occupational therapists play in supporting children’s development.

Attendees gained valuable insights into developmental milestones and signs that may indicate when additional support could be beneficial. Staying informed helps us continue providing the highest quality care to the children in our community. 💛

A special thank you to one of our wonderful Kookaburra Korner parents, Eloise Woodcock. Eloise generously shared her extensive knowledge and experience in the field of speech development—and we are so grateful for her time and expertise.

A heartfelt thank you also, to Sarah Bowtell from Happy Dots Therapy Services for sharing her incredible knowledge about the role of occupational therapists in early childhood development.

Sarah offered valuable insights into how OTs support young children in areas such as sensory regulation, fine and gross motor skills, emotional development, and daily routines. Her passion and expertise provided a fascinating look into the many ways occupational therapy can positively shape a child’s early years.

We’re so grateful to you both for your time and contribution!

🌟🌟🌟🌟APPRECIATION POST🌟🌟🌟🌟
This post today celebrates a really important achievement of one of our educators. Shane thought he was going to let this pass by without us finding out, but nothing much escapes us girls at Kookaburra Korner!
Shane has been putting in a lot of time and effort to complete the intensive training that is required to become one of the newest Fire and Rescue graduates for 2025. Shane has shown dedication, perseverance and an impressive strength of character to complete the training and we are extremely proud of him! By day Shane is dedicated to the education and care of the children at Kookaburra Korner and at night he is on call to serve and protect his local community. And he does all of this while still being a devoted father and family man with a young daughter and beautiful fiancé.
We are so proud of Shane and feel privileged to have watched Shane mature from his beginnings with us as a fresh faced trainee at the age of 17

✨✨✨✨Appreciation post✨✨✨✨✨

Today we celebrate as a community as our educator Taryn clocks up 25 years of service to Kookaburra Korner.

Taryn has spent the last 25 years bringing her knowledge, experience, her love and care to the children who have entered through our doors.

We say to Taryn, thank you for your continued service to Kookaburra Korner which is not just a long day care centre but who is a family.

Congratulations once again on this extraordinary milestone!

Hi everyone,
I hope you’ve had a fantastic Christmas break and everyone is looking forward to the year ahead!
I’m reaching out to our wonderful Kookaburra Korner community,on behalf of a current family at our service who recently lost someone very close to them.
We are sharing the go fund me link to help support this family during this difficult time.
Any amount, no matter how small, adds up to help.
I understand times are tough in this current climate so if you can’t donate, please consider sharing the link.
They say it takes a village to raise a Family and we are lucky to be apart of one of the best!

Recently we have had a very special moment at Kookaburra Korner, one that for us, perfectly highlights the importance of those meaningful and real relationships we develop with our children and their families!
This journey started for our Bec, over 15 years ago when she attended Kookaburra Korner as a child. By the time Bec came along we had already been a part of her family’s lives for a while, having her brothers attend Kookaburra Korner as well.
Fast forward to 2022, and a very shy Bec, ( with a lot of support from Mum, Jodette) contacted us and asked if we would take her on for work experience.
Of course, we welcomed Bec back into our family with open arms, offering her a wealth of experience! Most of the educators mentoring Bec were here when Bec was a little girl all those years ago!
As of last week Bec has officially completed her Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care through the SBAT (student based apprenticeship and trainees) program.
To say we are proud of Bec is an understatement, but what really makes us proud is the relationships we forge with the children and their families that make Kookaburra Korner somewhere they want to return to work!
Congratulations Bec! We are all so proud of you!

Last week we invited families into the Koala room to share a special story with us for book week. A big thank you to Luke, Sam and Bryanna for coming in to read to the children. We love having special visitors come in to the centre and I know Lincoln, Ruben and Marlow were especially excited to have you here!
