❤️ All Things Red ❤️

Here at Kids Cave Rutherford, our children have been busy exploring all things RED! 🔴🍎🚗

Through searching, collecting, sorting and creating with red objects, the children are developing their colour recognition, observation and classification skills while building language as they identify and describe the different items they find.

Experiences like this also encourage problem-solving, concentration, fine motor development and creativity, all through hands-on play and exploration.

A simple colour hunt can create so many wonderful opportunities for learning! ❤️

🦖 We Love Dinosaurs! 🦕

At Kids Cave Rutherford, we love following the children’s interests and finding creative ways for them to explore what fascinates them! Recently, dinosaurs have certainly captured our children’s imaginations.

Our dinosaur interest was extended across a variety of hands-on experiences. The children explored dinosaurs through sensory play, creating their own prehistoric worlds with dinosaur figures, nature-inspired materials and small-world resources. We then brought dinosaurs into our creative arts, dipping dinosaur feet into paint and making colourful dinosaur footprints across the page!

These experiences may look like lots of messy dinosaur fun — and they absolutely were! — but there was also so much learning happening. 🦖🎨

As the children stomped, printed, explored and played, they were developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, sensory awareness, creativity and confidence. Small-world play encouraged imagination, storytelling and language development, while experimenting with footprints introduced early concepts of cause and effect, patterns, size, shape and comparison.

Most importantly, the children were able to see that their interests matter. By observing what excites our children and extending those interests through art, sensory play, investigation, conversation and imaginative experiences, our educators create meaningful learning opportunities that children are genuinely excited to be part of.

Learning is always more powerful when it begins with curiosity, play, and FUN! 💚🦕🦖

🌟 Meet the Team – Brooklyn 🌟

Say hello to Brooklyn, one of our wonderful educators here at Kids Cave Rutherford! 💙

Brooklyn is a Certificate III-qualified educator who is currently working towards her Diploma and has been working in the early childhood sector for 2½ years, with 1½ of those years spent as part of the Kids Cave family.

What Brooklyn loves most about Kids Cave is the opportunity to build genuine, lasting relationships with the children, their families, and her fellow educators. She believes these strong connections help create a warm, supportive environment where every child can thrive.

Brooklyn's favourite experiences to set up are sensory play activities, encouraging children to explore, discover, and learn through hands-on experiences. Whether indoors or outdoors, she's always happy getting involved in children's play and learning!

A few fun facts about Brooklyn:

🐔🥚 Fresh Eggs & Big Learning at Kids Cave Rutherford! 🥚🐔

There was plenty of excitement in our outdoor environment as the children visited our chickens and discovered freshly laid eggs!

Caring for our chickens and collecting their eggs is a wonderful hands-on learning experience. The children carefully held and examined the eggs, noticing their different sizes, shapes and colours while learning about where our food comes from and the important role animals play in our world.

Through experiences like this, children are developing responsibility, empathy and respect for living things, while building their understanding of sustainability, life cycles and the natural environment. Collecting the eggs also supports fine motor development as children learn to handle them gently, as well as communication and social skills as they share their discoveries and excitement with their friends.

🐔 At Kids Cave Rutherford, we LOVE animals! We believe children develop incredibly meaningful connections with the natural world when they have opportunities to interact with and care for animals. Our chickens aren't just part of our environment — they are part of our learning community.

From feeding and caring for them to checking for eggs, our children are learning that animals depend on us to be gentle, kind, caring and responsible.

And judging by those very carefully held eggs… our little chicken keepers are doing a wonderful job! 🥚💛
