පාරිසරික තිරසාරත්වය මාතෘකාව යටතේ රොක්ස්බර්ග් සිංහල පාසලේ 8-9 වසර සිසුන් විසින් කුඩා කණ්ඩායම් වශයෙන් කරන ලද කෙටි ව්‍යාපෘතියක්. 2-3 වසර සිසුන් සදහා ‘නිවැරදි ලෙස කුණු කසල ඉවත දැමීම’ යන උප මාතෘකාව යටතේ ඉතාමත් හොදින්, අනිත් සිසුන්ගේ අවධානය ඇද ගනිමින් සහ සිසුන්ව ප්‍රායෝගිකව සහභාගී කර ගනිමින් දනුලි සහ තිසුමි විසින් කරන ලද ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම.

As part of an Environmental Sustainability project, Year 8–9 students Danuli and Thisumi presented “Proper Waste Disposal” to the Year 2–3 students.

The students at VSL Epping and Roxburgh Park centres were able to participate in celebrating Sri Lankan New Year at class level on 28th March 2026. On the day Students came into school in colourful cultural attire such as jackets and lungi, sarong & shirts, half saree, frocks & skirts. The class activities started by introducing New Year customs to students via short video clips, songs and enabling them to actively participate in those activities such as lighting oil lamps, exchanging gifts, respecting elders by offering betel leaves, etc.

The class 4/5 students of VSL Roxburgh Park language school presented a role play “ Apita Sinhala katha karanna puluwan “ depicts a strong sense of cultural identity they belong. The performance highlighted how language helps to build personal identity with a connection to cultural roots. It enables students to feel more connected to their home and wider community. The story behind allows you to appreciate the diversity of the language spoken by students. The presentation was both meaningful and inspiring highlighting the value of our language.

VSL රොක්ස්බ්ර්ග් පාර්ක් සිංහල භාෂා පාසලේ 4/5 වසර ඉගෙනුම ලබන දරුවන් ඉදිරිපත් කළ “අපිට සිංහල කතා කරන්න පුළුවන් “ කෙටි නාට්‍යය සිංහල ඉගෙනීමේ අගය දනවන පුංචි ප්‍රයත්නයකි . අපේ කමට ගැළපෙන සිංහල හොඳ සිරිත් අපි අගය කරමු.

ගිනියම් ඉර - සඳ සිසිලස
අතරේ හොයනවා හොයනවා මේ අපි කවුරුද?
ගීයකි ලොව - සිතුවම් කළ
අතරේ අහනවා බලනවා මේ අපි කවුරුද?

2026 ජූනි මස 20 වෙනි සෙනසුරාදා VSL රොක්ස්බර්ග් පාසලේ පැවති සිංහල සාහිත්‍ය සංගමයේ රැස්වීමේදී 10-12 ශ්‍රේණිවල සිසුන් විසින් මෙම ගීතය සංගීත භාණ්ඩ වාදනය කරමින් ගායනා කරනු ලැබුවා. මෙම ගීතයට සභාවේ සිටි දෙමව්පියන් සහ පහළ පන්තිවල දූ දරුවන්ගෙන් ලැබුණ ප්‍රතිචාරය ඇසූ දුටු, මගේ සිතට නැඟුණු සිතුවිලි මේවාය.
මව් බිමෙන් ඈතක ජීවත් වුනත් අපට අපේ ජානගතවී තිබෙන භාෂාව, නාද රටා ස්වභාවිකවම ඉස්මතුවී ඒම වලක්වාලිය නොහැකි දෙයක්. නමුත් මේ සමාජය තුළ හැදී වැඩෙන අපේ බොහොමයක් දරුවන් වයසින් මුහුකුරා යනවිට ඔවුන් තුළත් මේ ප්‍රශ්නයම එනම් “අපි කවුරු ද?” යන්න පැන නැඟෙන බව නොඅනුමානයි. ඉතින් දෙමව්පියන්, ගුරුවරුන්, වැඩිහිටියන් වන අප සැමගේ යුතුකම දරුවන්ට එවැනි ප්‍රශ්නයක් පැන නොනැඟෙන අයුරින් ඔවුන්ව හදා වඩා ගැනීමයි.
අපට බහු සංස්කෘතිකත්වයට බොහෝ ආකාරවලින් සහාය දක්වන රටක ජීවත් වීමට ලැබීම කොතරම් වාසනාවක් ද? කෙසේ වෙතත්, අපගේ මව්බිම වන ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සිට සැතපුම් දහස් ගණනක් ඈතින් පිහිටි රටක අපගේ මව් භාෂාව වන සිංහල භාෂාව ඉගෙන ගැනීමට ලබා දී ඇති අවස්ථාවන්ගෙන් අපගේ තරුණ පරම්පරාවෙන් කී දෙනෙක් ප්‍රයෝජන ගන්නවා ද?
මේ ගැන බුද්ධිමත් වැඩිහිටියෙක්, දෙමාපියෙක් ලෙස ඔබත් නැවත සිතා බලන්න.

A world is a song - which is painted
Among those asking & looking who we are?

This song was sung by students of grades 10-12 playing musical instruments at the Sinhala Literary Society meeting held at VSL Roxburgh School on Saturday, June 20, 2026. These are the thoughts that came to my mind when I heard the response to this song from the parents and children of the lower classes in the audience.
Even though we live far from our motherland, we cannot prevent our genetically ingrained language and rhythm from emerging naturally. But as most of our children growing up in this society grow older, there is no doubt that this same question arises in them, “Who are we?” So, it is the duty of all of us, parents, teachers, and adults, to raise our children in a way that does not raise such a question.
We are so fortunate to live in a country that supports multiculturalism in so many ways. However, how many of our younger generation are reaping the advantage of the opportunities provided for learning our own mother tongue Sinha in a country thousands of miles away from our motherland Sri Lanka?
As a wise adult and parent, think again about this.

මෙ’නුවර කෙටි කතා සංග්‍රහය, වික්ටෝරියානු භාෂා පාසලේ රොක්ස්බර්ග් මධ්‍යස්ථානයෙන් මීට වසර කීපයකට පෙර සිංහල භාෂාව හදාරා, වී. සී. ඊ. විභාගයට පෙනී සිටි සිසු සිසුවියන් විසින් රචිත කෙටි කතා කීපයක එකතුවකි.
මෙම කෙටි කතා සංග්‍රහය එළි දැක්වීම, වී. සී. ඊ. පන්තියේ දරුවන්ට මිණි පහනක්ව වර්ෂ ගණනාවක් තිස්සේ මඟ පෙන්වන විපුලී ගුණසේකර ගුරු මෑණියගේ සිතේ ජනිතවූ එක් ප්‍රාර්ථනාවක් මල් ඵල ගැන්වුණ මොහොතක් ලෙස සඳහන් කළ හැකිය.
වර්ෂ 2002 සිට 2016 දක්වා, පන්තියේදී කෙරුණු පැවරුම් සඳහා සිසු සිසුවියන් විසින් ලියන ලද කෙටි කතා දහයක් මෙම පොතෙහි ඇතුළත් වී තිබේ.
