Today, the 3- and 4-year-olds were joined by a special guest from Splash for an exciting and educational water safety session. The children learnt about the importance of staying safe around water and explored the different types of bodies of water, including pools, beaches, rivers and lakes.
Through engaging discussions and activities, the children learnt about safe behaviours around water, the importance of listening to adults and how to recognise potential dangers. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to build their knowledge and understanding of water safety while having fun and learning from our special guest.

The children worked together to build a strong bridge using colourful foam bricks. They carefully stacked the bricks and made space underneath for train tracks. Once the bridge was finished, they placed the tracks underneath and watched the trains travel through. They also used toy cars, driving them across the top of the bridge and along the roads. The children enjoyed using their imagination, working as a team, and exploring how bridges, trains, and cars can all work

Today our little learners had lots of fun exploring letters through play, songs, tracing, and hands-on activities!

We’re building confidence as children recognise letters, practise their shapes, and begin connecting letters with sounds and words.

Every little discovery is a step towards becoming confident early readers. đź’›

Learning letters is even more meaningful when it’s fun, playful, and shared together!

Exploring Books

children love exploring books with their little hands and curious eyes. They touch the pages, look at colourful pictures, and listen to the sounds of words.

When explore books, they begin to learn about language, colours, shapes, animals, and the world around them. Turning pages helps develop their hand and finger movements, while listening to stories helps build their vocabulary and attention.

Books also create a wonderful opportunity for children and adults to share time together. When adults talk about pictures, ask simple questions, and sing or read aloud, babies learn through listening, watching, and interacting.

Through exploring books, children learn to communicate, discover new things, develop early literacy skills, and enjoy learning.

Celebrating Birthdays Together

Today, we had a wonderful time celebrating the birthdays of our friends at childcare. The children gathered together with excitement as we prepared for the special celebration.

We sang “Happy Birthday” together while our birthday friends smiled and enjoyed being the centre of attention. The children clapped and cheered.

The birthday celebration created a beautiful opportunity for the children to build friendships, develop a sense of belonging and celebrate each other’s special moments.

Through this shared experience, children developed confidence in participating within a group and practised social skills such as listening, taking turns, cooperating and expressing their feelings.

Today, the children were invited to explore what happens when they blow through straws onto soft feathers. Each child chose a feather and a straw and began experimenting.

They watched closely as the feathers moved, spun, and sometimes stayed still. Some children discovered that blowing gently made the feather move slowly, while blowing harder made it travel further.

The children showed excitement as they experimented with different ways of blowing. They watched each other, shared ideas, and encouraged their friends to try. One child said, “Mine is going fast!” while another noticed, “You need to blow harder.”

Through this experience, the children demonstrated curiosity, problem-solving, persistence, and emerging scientific thinking. They were developing an understanding of cause and effect while exploring air, movement, and force.
