Silkwood Stars Kindergarten and Early Learning Centre Silkwoodstars is a welcoming kindergarten and childcare service that provides safe/stimulating environments for each child to enquire, develop and grow.

Our Commitment to Child Safety & Wellbeing

Silkwood Stars Kindergarten and ELC is committed to creating a child safe organisation where all children and young people are safe and feel safe. We have a greater focus on safety for those children and young people who are considered more at risk to abuse and neglect. We actively support and facilitate participation and inclusion of Aboriginal Children

, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD), those who are unable to live at home, children with a disability and/or children from sexually and gender diverse groups (LGBTQIA+). We have commitment to managing both physical and online environments to keep children and young people safe through governance, systems, and processes. This statement provides the framework for the organisational approach to complying with best practice by aligning with Victorian Child Safety Standards in conjunction with the guiding National Principles for Child Safety. We have a zero tolerance to abuse, racism, bullying and discrimination. We have an explicit commitment to the cultural safety of Aboriginal children.

Many families come to us with questions:

Is the screaming when I leave normal?
Should there be more words by now?
Is he ready for school, or should we wait a year?

Most of them are normal. But some can be complicated. We've built somewhere to put those questions.

We also made it simple so that early childhood information can be searched by age group. We also broke it down into what's usually going on at that age group. What most parents find hard, and when it's worth mentioning to someone, to make it a bit easier.

It's general information, not advice about your child. For the things that actually matter to you, your GP or MCH nurse is the one who can advise you best. 💚

What a morning! Our Open Day was everything we hoped for and more — and it was all thanks to YOU. Thank you to every family who came along, said hello, patted the farm animals, danced, got their faces painted and shared the fun with us.

THANK YOU, PARENTS! 📚💛

We are so moved by your generosity. Thank you to every parent who attended our Open Day and donated to Reading Out Of Poverty (ROOP) — a wonderful charity that puts books into the hands of children who don't have them at home.

Together, we're teaching our children one of life's most important lessons: the joy of helping peers who are less fortunate than themselves. We were so proud to see our little learners embrace kindness and giving.

This spirit of caring for others will become part of our learning program at Silkwood Stars — because raising kind, compassionate children is at the heart of everything we do. 🌟
