Grace Lutheran College Rothwell Located on the Redcliffe Peninsula, our Rothwell Campus is a co-educational secondary school. Current enrolment is over 1550 students.

Grace Lutheran College, with campuses in Rothwell (Redcliffe Peninsula) & Caboolture, is a co-educational secondary school, catering for students from Year 7 to Year 12. Students are accepted irrespective of religious affiliation, financial status and academic level. The College commenced at Grace Lutheran Primary School in 1978 with 15 students. In 1980, the move was made to the current campus at Rothwell with a student population of 55. After a few years of uncertainty, the enrolment and facilities increased steadily and with them grew the fine reputation the College enjoys today.

Ignite Excellence Achievements \\ Ignite Excellence: Accelerated Mathematics Awards Ceremony 🎓

Friday marked an incredible milestone for our Year 11 Accelerated Mathematics classes, with The College celebrating these students who have completed the 12 Mathematical Methods course twelve months early.

Japan Trip 2026 \\ Week 3 - Nichidai Homestay 🏫 🗾

To start off Week 3, students were keen to experience Japanese classes! The group enjoyed not having to move classrooms in between lessons, and also enjoyed experiencing Kendo (Japanese fencing, involving ideas of the Bushido way of Samurai Warriors) afterschool. 🤺

Day 15 was the start of the program at Nichidai, and the group was greeted with a Welcome Ceremony. There was lots of cheering and smiles, and it was amazing to see good friendships starting to form between the students. Everyone also got to experience a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, and learned how to follow the proper etiquette in a truly enjoyable experience. 🍵

The next afternoon, Nichidai hosted a small party for The College’s students to mark the end of their homestay on Day 17. There was many conversations in both English and Japanese, and it was amazing to see the teachings from language classes in action!
On their final day in Japan, the students got to say a big thank you and goodbye to their host families and the Nichidai students. The group had an incredible experience at Nichidai and through the rest of their Japan Trip, and are now safely back home in Australia! 🛬

EXO DAY 2026 \\ Living Water 🌊 ☀️ 🎶

Term 3 ended with a bang for The College, with a celebration of this year's EXO Day - a day filled with fun, laughter, and the opportunity to explore faith. The theme this year was 'Living Water', based off the Bible verse: “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” - John 4:10 🌊

Activities of the day included student performances in the 'Battle of the Bands'; a Pool Party and Splash Zone/Water Slide to beat the heat; fun on inflatable obstacle courses; and the chance to relax in the Chill Zone of Gaming Arena. A student favourite was also the Miniature Farm, where students got to get up close with chickens, baby goats, lambs and piglets. 🐖

This fun also included an amazing live music concert from Ethan B**r, and it was incredible to see students getting involved in Worship and appreciating his music! EXO Day was a wonderful day of community connection, and discovering what it means to be refreshed by the living water of Jesus. A huge thank you to the many students, staff and volunteers from local churches who made this day such an amazing end to Term 3!

Year 11 Economics \\ Port of Brisbane Excursion 🚢

Our Year 11 Economics students recently visited the Port of Brisbane, where they gained valuable insights into the world of international trade and its importance to the Australian economy.

The excursion provided students with a firsthand look at Australia's trading relationships, the goods we import and export, and the vital role the Port of Brisbane plays in connecting Australia to global markets. Students also explored the history and development of the port, gaining a deeper understanding of how trade has shaped Queensland's economic growth.

This experience directly supports learning for the IA1 assessment, allowing students to connect classroom concepts with real-world economic activity.

Japan Trip 2026 \\ Week 2 - Tokyo & Nichisai Tsurugaoka High School Homestay 🗾

Our students kicked off Week 2 of The College’s Japan Trip with a bang, catching a Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Tokyo! The students were amazed by the quick speed of the train (285km/h!) and even got to experience a train inspection along the way.

The next day, students visited Shibuya, Harajuku and TeamLab, getting to see Shibuya Scramble Crossing (the busiest crossing in the world!). At TeamLab, the group had fun experiencing digital artwork made with light, nature, water and spacing.

Day 10 began with a view of Tokyo Sky Tree, one of the tallest structures of Japan. The next stop was Sensoji temple in Asakusa – famous for its big lantern.
The group day a very exciting day on Day 11, going to Tokyo Disneyland for the day! It was a hot day, but the students had lots of fun on many rides, and also got to enjoy shopping for themed items.

Day 12 was a slower day, with students enjoying activities like shopping at Ginza (Tokyo’s prestigious shopping district), exploring Shibuya, and even visiting a cat café! The day finished in Shinjuku with a view of Tokyo’s nightlife.

The next day, students visited The College’s sister school, Nihon University Tsurugaoka High School (Nichidai) to start off their homestay. Everyone was warmly welcomed by the Nichidai staff and students, and some students even got to reunite with previous host brothers/sisters – for a very special, smiley day! On Sunday, our students got to enjoy their own time with the host families, getting to take part in different cultural experiences.

Interact Club \\ Book Week Donations 📖

During Book Week this term, our Interact Club collected a wonderful selection of books to donate to the Redcliffe Children’s Ward, helping to bring the joy of reading to young patients.

A huge thank you to everyone in the Grace community who generously contributed to this initiative. Your support and kindness have made a real difference.

Japan Trip 2026 \\ Week 1 - Nagasaki & Nagoya 🍙

Our students started off their first week in Japan in Nagasaki, and headed to Mt Inasa – which although only 333m in height, provided a stunning night view.

On Day 3, the students continued to explore Nagasaki, beginning at the Atomic Bomb Museum and Peace Park. The next stop was world heritage sites, Oura Church and Glover House, followed by Megane-bash Bridge (one of the oldest bridges in Nagasaki!).

Another fun day in Nagasaki for day 4! Students woke up to a scavenger hunt, finding local sports, Nagasaki cuisine and playing with kanji. In the afternoon, the group went to Dejima (the historical artificial island), learning more about the national isolation period (Sakoku) of the Edo period.

For Day 5 the group travelled to Nagoya, a new destination for The College’s Japan Trip! The students were very excited to explore and enjoy experiencing retail activities.

Day 6 started with a visit to the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, stopping next at Nagoya Castle (a throwback to Year 8 History!), an architectural artifact from the Shogun Period.

On the final day of week 1, our students went to Railway Park to see the historical Bullet Train cars, before enjoying some time at the Ghibli Store. Next stop, Tokyo!
