On Wednesday afternoon, our Reception to Year 2 students were treated to a wonderful musical experience when Peter Combe visited Mount Carmel College.

Peter entertained the children with a fun and energetic selection of songs from his much-loved albums, including some old favourites such as “Wash Your Face in Orange Juice,” “Newspaper Mama,” “Spaghetti Bolognaise,” “Juicy Juicy Green Grass,” and “Mr Clicketty Cane.” The children enthusiastically joined in with singing, dancing, actions and plenty of laughter throughout the performance.

Peter’s ability to engage young children through music, movement and humour created a fantastic atmosphere in the Hall. It was wonderful to see our students, and teachers, singing along to familiar songs, joining in with the actions and enjoying every moment of the performance.

A huge thank you to Peter Combe for sharing his music and bringing so much joy and energy to our students. It was a wonderful afternoon of singing, dancing, laughter and fun, and certainly an experience our Reception to Year 2 students will remember!

Book Week arrived a little early on the Primary Campus with the live performance, Something Special!

Students from Reception to Year 4 enjoyed an interactive adventure based on a selection of the 2026 CBCA Shortlisted Books, discovering that when we compromise, cooperate and combine our talents, we can create something truly special.

We can't wait to continue the celebrations next week with our Scholastic Book Fair from Monday 24 August and our Book Week Parade on Friday 28 August!

Last week our Year 7, 10 and 11 students were treated to three outstanding Bell Shakespeare incursion performances: The Wonderful World of Will, Such Sweet Sorrow, and Macbeth: The Rehearsal. Each show brought Shakespeare’s world to life in a dynamic and often very funny way.

Our students represented the College beautifully. They were attentive, enthusiastic, and fully immersed in the experience. Several students were invited onto the stage to take on minor roles, performing with confidence and skill. A few teachers were also called upon to join the action – Mr. Zammit was excellent as the prince but it was sad to see Mr. Jelonek murdered on stage…

The Wonderful World of Will imaginatively took Year 7 back to 1599, introducing them to Shakespeare himself and a colourful cast of characters while exploring language, history and iconic scenes. Such Sweet Sorrow guided Year 10 through the intensity of Romeo and Juliet, blending modern commentary with Shakespeare’s original text to unpack themes, motivations and dramatic techniques. Macbeth: The Rehearsal gave Year 11 a behind‑the‑scenes look at the ‘Scottish Play’, revealing how actors shape meaning through rehearsal, interpretation and performance.

It was a fantastic day of learning, laughter and live theatre. We are proud of how our students engaged with the performers and with Shakespeare’s timeless stories.

Our Stage 2 Food and Hospitality students brought plenty of flavour, creativity and energy to their latest catering event!

Students planned, prepared and served a delicious two-course Mexican-inspired buffet lunch for our secondary staff. The menu featured pulled meats, seasoned rice, pickled vegetables, fresh salsas, corn chips, guacamole and a crowd-favourite churros cake with spiced chocolate sauce.

This real-world catering experience gave students the opportunity to put their hospitality skills into practice while developing teamwork, communication, problem solving, organisation and customer service skills.

From the kitchen to service, students worked together with enthusiasm and confidence…creating not only a fantastic dining experience, but also some great memories along the way.

We are incredibly proud of our Stage 2 Food and Hospitality students and the skills they continue to develop. A wonderful example of learning in action! 👏
