Is your child stuck at the same spot in weekly speech therapy, even after months of sessions?

More of the same isn't always the answer. Once-a-week appointments don't always give enough repetition to push a skill from "practiced in the clinic" to "used at home." That's exactly what our School Holiday Intensive is built for.

Here's how it works:
→ Daily support on your child's specific goal
→ Play-based and fun (no worksheets, no pressure)
→ No homework, because the practice happens in the session, every day
→ Designed to move skills out of therapy and into everyday life fast

For kids who've hit a wall, a short burst of consistent, daily practice can create more momentum than months of once-a-week appointments.

We're now taking enrollments for the Spring School Holidays. Spots are limited, so get in touch and we'll get things organised.

“Why is speech therapy so expensive?” It’s a fair question, and one we’re always happy to answer honestly.

When you book a session, you’re not paying for one hour in a room. You’re paying for a university-trained specialist, standardised assessments that pinpoint exactly what’s going on, and a plan written for your child alone. Around every appointment sits the planning, note-writing, reporting and parent coaching you don’t see. That’s the real work.

It costs more than an off-the-shelf program because it’s built to actually work. The research agrees: coaching parents drives real, lasting progress that keeps going between sessions (Roberts & Kaiser, 2011). ☀️

Is speech therapy worth the cost? Yes. The fee covers a qualified speech pathologist, individual assessment, goals tailored to your child, written reports and parent coaching, not just the time in session. That personalised, evidence-based approach is exactly what creates lasting change, which a generic program can’t.

"There's nothing like it in the East." That's what we kept hearing, so we created it.

We've supported kids across the Eastern Suburbs for over 20 years, and parents consistently tell us the same thing: there aren't enough safe, fun places for year 5 and 6 kids to hang out if team sports and big groups aren't their vibe.

So we created our school holiday social hangout, for kids who connect differently.

Interests a little unique?
Group settings feel too big?

This is a space to just be, without the pressure to fit a mold.

If your child is looking for their people, or just a space to share with people like them, this is worth a look.

Your "Baby Voice" Is Backed by Science

That sing-song, slowed-down, slightly silly voice you use with your child is called parentese, and it's doing a lot for their development.

Babies and toddlers are wired to tune into it more than regular adult speech, right from the start.

A 2014 study published in Developmental Science found that infants who heard more parentese went on to develop larger vocabularies and were more talkative later in childhood. This isn't just a cute habit, it's actively shaping how their brain builds language.

So if you've ever caught yourself narrating snack time in a sing-song voice or stretching out your vowels while reading a bedtime story, that's not silly. That's you speaking their language, and the research backs it up.

Save this for the next time someone teases you for your baby voice. And if you're ever unsure about your child's speech and language development, that's what we're here for. Book a free discovery call now. Link in bio.

Ever watched your kid opt out before they even try?

That's the moment that started this program.

Not every year 5 or 6 kid wants to run drills or shout across a footy field these holidays. Some want to talk about their special interest for twenty minutes straight and have someone actually listen.

That's allowed here.

This isn't a smaller version of a holiday camp. It's a completely different environment, built by a team who's worked with kids for 20+ years and noticed the same gap over and over again.

Curious if it's the right fit? Link in bio has all the details on our school holiday social hangout. 🌞

Too busy for speech therapy homework? Try our School Holiday Intensive instead.

We get it. Between school pickups, siblings, and the general chaos of family life, "practice this every day" can feel like one more thing on an impossible list. So we built something different.

Our Spring School Holiday Intensive means:
✔️ Daily sessions supporting your child's specific goals
✔️ Play-based therapy that's actually fun for them
✔️ Zero homework
✔️ Real progress made through consistent, condensed practice, not scattered weekly sessions

For a lot of families, this kind of focused block does more for skill generalisation into daily life than months of once-a-week appointments with homework in between.

Enrollments for the Spring school holidays are open now, and spots fill fast for these programs.

If you’re not sure what your child is actually working on in speech therapy, you’re not alone, and it’s not too late to ask.

Knowing your child’s goals is one of the simplest ways to get more from every session. When you understand what they’re working on, why it matters and how to practise at home, therapy keeps going long after you leave the clinic.

Asking can feel a little awkward, and that’s completely normal. A good speech pathologist will welcome the conversation, because the best outcomes happen when therapist and family work as a team.

In the reel I share the exact questions to bring to your next catch-up with your therapist. Save or share this for if you ever need them. ☀️

Should parents know their child’s speech therapy goals? Yes! Every family has the right to understand what their child is working on, why, and how to practise at home.

Not in the Eastern Suburbs? We work with families right across Australia via Telehealth, using the same collaborative, goal-focused approach. Same questions apply, wherever you are. 🌳

At Kids Spot in Rose Bay, we set goals collaboratively with parents across the Eastern Suburbs so progress continues well beyond the session.

Save this, send it to a parent who needs it, and comment “hell yeah” if you’d like more tips for getting the most out of your sessions.

Does online speech therapy actually work?
Yes. A 2025 Australian meta-analysis pooled nine randomised controlled trials comparing online and in-person speech therapy and found no significant difference in outcomes between the two.
And it holds across the areas parents ask about most. Separate reviews show similar gains for autistic children, for children with language difficulties, and for early intervention with under-3s - especially when parents are coached to lead.
Here’s why it works: your therapist coaches you live, in your home, using your child’s own toys and everyday routines. For autistic kids in particular, that parent coaching is what drives the strongest results.
The honest part: the evidence is promising and growing, not final. Telehealth suits many children, not every child. We check the fit before we start.
So if you’re anywhere in Australia and can’t find the right speech pathologist locally, we’re here to help. We deliver evidence-based telehealth Australia-wide.
Q: Can we access this outside Sydney? A: Yes. We work with families across Australia online.

This is what a reading therapy session looks like.

Tea. Beach. Chief. Sweep. Two letters sitting side by side, making one sound.

A child can know exactly what each letter says on its own and still get stuck on "beach", because letter teams are a separate skill. They have to be taught.

If your child is at school and still sounding out every letter one by one, it is worth an assessment. ☀️

P.s. our therapy includes training videos for you if you can't be in the session. This is a clip that was filmed for the parents who couldn't be in this session.

Welcome to Kids Spot Eliza!! You may recognise her because Eliza was with us some time ago and we are excited to have her back. Eliza has availability for before and after school appointments. She is warm and thoughtful and brings genuine curiosity and care to every child and family she works with. She is committed to child-led, neurodiverse-affirming therapy, building sessions around regulation, connection and engagement so that communication grows in a way that feels safe and enjoyable for the child.

Eliza works with children across a broad range of presentations, including speech sound disorders, language development, stuttering, and complex communication needs. Her intervention is always evidence-based and shaped around each child’s individual goals, with a focus on functional communication that carries over into everyday life at home, at school and in the community.

Alongside her speech pathology qualification, Eliza holds a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours, giving her a strong grounding in child development, behaviour and emotional regulation that enriches the way she connects with children and supports families. She also brings hands-on experience working directly alongside children and families with disability across home, school and daycare settings, giving her a practical, grounded understanding of how therapy translates into real life.

Eliza is also a trained AAC practitioner. AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) refers to tools and strategies that support a child to communicate beyond speech alone, including dedicated speech generating devices and apps such as LAMP Words for Life and Proloquo2Go. For many children, AAC is transformative, opening up communication that speech alone cannot yet support.
