What does being a Kambala girl mean to you?
These beautiful notes from our Junior School girls, shared at the IT’S HER TIME Gala Ball, offer a glimpse into what being a Kambala girl means through their eyes and who they hope to become beyond the Tivoli Gates.

Developing resilience and perseverance is a lifelong journey that goes way beyond the classroom walls. This term, our Year 10 Sports Science students took on the unique physical and mental challenges of the ocean, hitting the surf in true Bondi style.

By observing their body’s responses, monitoring muscle fatigue, and tracking cardiovascular demand, they really have been able to translate their classroom learnings straight to the surfboard.

Year 11 student Skye’s story is a wonderful example of the values upheld by the Global Citizenship Diploma, demonstrated through her strong commitment to her local community.

Skye is the co-founder of Cosy Companion, a non-profit organisation founded in late 2024 that provides volunteer visits to aged care facilities across Sydney.

Through music, storytelling, and creative activities, Cosy Companion brings connection and comfort to people in aged care.

How do we bring curiosity into the classroom?

Our senior science students recently had the privilege of learning about Indigenous medicine in a workshop that sparked thoughtful questions and lively discussion. Led by Dr Shane Ingrey, the session highlighted the powerful connection between ancient knowledge and modern biotechnology.

Students explored the practical uses of eucalyptus and tea tree oil through hands-on activities, transforming theoretical learning into a tangible connection to Country. The experience demonstrated that scientific discovery often begins with curiosity, careful observation, and a deep respect for the environment that provides these natural resources.

Dr Ingrey’s visit encouraged students to view the flora on their own doorstep with fresh eyes. By blending oral traditions with empirical evidence, he showed that the future of medicine can often be informed by the wisdom of the past.

The workshop equipped our girls with knowledge and perspectives that extend beyond the classroom.
