🔬✨ Science Week fun at Ballykin Cromer! ✨🔬

Our little scientists had so much fun exploring, experimenting, and discovering how the world around us works! 🌎🧪

This week, we:
🌿 Explored a turmeric science experiment
💧 Investigated what floats and what sinks
🌋 Created a volcano right inside our room
🍦 Made our own 5-minute ice cream
🔍 Learned through hands-on experiments, observation, and lots of curiosity!

These experiences encouraged the children to ask questions, make predictions, problem-solve, and discover the magic of science through play. 💛

📖🎭 Wombat Stew came to life at Ballykin! 🐾🍲

Our wonderful educators performed Wombat Stew for the children, and it was an absolute hit! The children clapped, laughed and were so engaged that they kept asking for more, more, more! 👏🤩

There are lots of winter bugs making the rounds at the moment, so we’re adding one very simple habit to our daily routine — and we’d love our families to join us!

Two extra hand washes each day:

👐 When you arrive — to help wash away germs picked up on the journey to preschool before little hands get busy playing and exploring.

🏡 Before you leave — to help wash away germs picked up throughout the day before they hitch a ride home.

It might seem like a small thing, but good handwashing is one of the simplest and most effective ways we can help reduce the spread of illness.

We’ll continue doing our part throughout the day with regular handwashing, cleaning and hygiene practices — and we’d love your help making these two washes part of our everyday routine.

🛴✨ Scooter Week at Ballykin! ✨🛴

What a fun-filled week! Ballykin children have been building confidence, independence and gross motor skills as they zoom around on their scooters. 💪🌟

We’ve loved seeing the Penguins grow in confidence, scootering on their own! 🐧💛

Along the way, the children have also been learning about road safety, following rules and being aware of others. 🚦🛴

So much learning, laughter and confidence on wheels! 💕

Have you ever wondered, “Why do children spend so much time in dramatic play?”

It’s because, through role play, they revisit real-life experiences and stretch their imagination to recreate the world around them. It is one of the ways children can make sense of it.

Pretend play is one of the richest languages of early childhood. It is where children experiment with language, negotiate with friends, solve problems, explore relationships, and bring their ideas to life.

As children step into different roles, they begin to see the world through someone else’s eyes. They explore emotions, practise empathy, develop self-regulation, and learn to work collaboratively with others.

There is no script.

The story changes as new children join the play, new ideas emerge, and unexpected problems arise.

This kind of play invites our little ones to think creatively, listen carefully, express their ideas, understand different perspectives, and work together towards a shared purpose.

To an adult, it may look like children are simply pretending.

To a child, it is meaningful work.

💙🧸 Pyjama Week is here! 🧸💙

This week, we’re wearing our pyjamas with a purpose! Together, we’re helping raise funds to support children in foster care, increase awareness of their experiences, and provide much-needed assistance to foster families across Australia.

What a wonderful month are we having of learning at Ballykin Cromer Pre-School! 🌿✨

This month, the children explored early numeracy through hands-on experiences, engaged in imaginative doctor role-play, developed their construction and cognitive thinking skills, embraced the joy of playing in the rain, created nature-inspired artwork using earthy colours at the park, and worked together on a creative art project using recycled materials. Every experience encouraged curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and meaningful learning through play. 💚🌈

At Ballykin Cromer, we celebrated NAIDOC Week 🖤💛❤️

Throughout the week, the children explored and celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through painting, drawing, storytelling, and sensory play with red earth and orange sand, inspired by traditional connections to Country. Many of these experiences were shared between our Preschool and Toddlers rooms, encouraging learning, curiosity, and a sense of community. 🌿✨
