Rosanna Primary School

Science and learning has come alive this week for students in Year 2. They have visited the new Rosanna Library Visit on Tueaday where they were read a story, completed a library scavenger hunt and coloured the monarch butterfly life cycle. One of the highlights that brought the butterfly to life was the augmented reality on iPad! This term every class will celebrate literacy with a visit to the library in a real celebration of books!

A wonderful evening shared with parents and staff at the latest ParentEd workshop that focussed on supporting children as they experienced challenges in relationships. Thanks to Jemima Smith, a Speech Therapist currently working with Rosanna Primary School, who led the night. It proved a great night of resourcing each other on strategies to support student work through difficult times.

As part of the 456 Learning Area focussing on Weathering and Erosion, students participated in an incursion run by Swinburne University. They conducted various experiments to understand volcanoes and geological processes. All left with a clearer understanding about the remarkable forces at work around us!

A day of firsts for our Prep students who ventured on their first excursion to Melbourne Zoo. People laughed at the meerkats, quivered at the lion and kinked their necks to get a good view of the giraffes. The weather and wonderful behaviour of our students ensured the day was full of wonder and learning. A special thanks to all our volunteers who journeyed with us.

While only a few workers arrived today, they powered through some valuable work replacing the rotting timbers along our northern boundary. Thanks for tackling this important job as well as a rubbish cleanup!

We were joined by a hungry group of gang gang cockatoos at the end of the day at the lower playground. It was a wonderful celebration of a busy week or learning, camping and fun. How lucky were we!

Day Two has seen a whole set of new adventures. From organising with Walkie talkies, cooperative games and hit building through to vertical wall climbs and nature walks! We have been fortunate to have good weather and enjoyed the day thus far!

A great first day at the 5/6 Anglesea Camp. Teams battled it out in beach relays, sandcastling and a range of beach games for the champions of the Beach Sports Competition. After a welcome hot meal they headed to the hall for a movie on the big screen. We look forward to a refreshing sleep and the adventures of day two!

What a wonderful day full of discussion about book characters! While the younger students went on a ‘Where’s Wally Search’ others exchanged books to learn about the characters present at school. Thanks to those that attended the colourful Book Character Parade today and celebrated the fun of reading!

We were thrilled today to open the Explorer’s Nature Play Space! The Sustainability Leaders planted a special plant to mark the day while students watched on via a video link in the comfort of the hall.

Thanks to the choir who were joined by the rest of the school to sing ‘Eastern Rosella’ - a fun song we all enjoyed! Thanks to Councillor Champion, Mayor of Banyule, Kristen Munro, School Council President, and Jacqui Weldon, North East Community Fund, for their support! Looking forward to the fun to be had!
