As we reflect on Reconciliation Week, we hope you had the chance to see the beautiful display outside our Kookaburra Nest

This display represents our continued commitment to being 'All In' and fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and belonging.

Together, we created a Sea of Hearts, with our little learners making their own unique marks on recycled hearts. Each heart represents an individual contribution, coming together to form a collective display that celebrates connection, community, and reconciliation🖤💛❤️💚💙

🤝 Reconciliation Week Collaborative Art Project – All In

This collaborative artwork, created by the children, educators and families of Little Stones and newham_primary_school, represents our shared commitment to reconciliation. Each canvas reflects the unique voices, stories and perspectives within our communities, while together they symbolise the strength that comes from working collectively towards a more inclusive and respectful future.

Inspired by the 2026 National Reconciliation Week theme, “All In,” this project reminds us that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility. Through creativity, conversation and collaboration, children explored ideas of belonging, identity, connection and community.

The artwork serves as a visual reminder that meaningful reconciliation happens when we are all involved—listening, learning, respecting and taking action together. We are proud to stand All In for reconciliation, today and every day.❤️🖤💛

🐸✨ Yesterday our learning took an exciting turn when one of our children brought frogs in from home to share with their peers. This sparked immediate curiosity, wonder and meaningful conversations as the children gathered closely to observe, ask questions and share their theories about frogs, habitats and how living things grow and survive.

Moments like these are valued as authentic child-led provocations, where children’s interests guide the direction of learning. The frogs became more than just visitors — they became a catalyst for inquiry, connection and collaborative learning.

The children explored concepts of care, responsibility and respect for living creatures while engaging in rich language and scientific thinking:
🐸 “Why do frogs live near water?”
🐸 “What do they eat?”
🐸 “How do we keep them safe?”

As educators, we followed the children’s curiosity, documenting their ideas and extending opportunities for research, drawing, storytelling and discussion. These spontaneous experiences create some of the richest learning moments, empowering children to become confident investigators of the world around them. 🌿💚

🏗️📐 “The environment is the third teacher.”

When a child questioned “why is next door taking so long, what are they doing?”

✨let’s take a deep dive ! And see what learning can happen.

Today the children immersed themselves in the world of construction, architecture and design as they explored real building plans and blueprints. Through collaborative discussion, observation and problem solving, the children began interpreting symbols, lines and spaces, connecting these ideas to their own experiences with building and construction.

This learning experience encouraged the children to lead their own investigations, ask questions and test theories together. Using the blueprints as a provocation, the children explored concepts of spatial awareness, engineering, mapping, design and communication while negotiating ideas with peers.

As educators, we intentionally slowed down to listen to the children’s thinking, extending conversations around “What do these symbols mean?”, “How do builders know where things go?” and “How could we create our own plans?”

These rich moments of inquiry support not only early mathematical and literacy concepts, but also critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and a deep sense of agency in learning. 🧱✨
