Shouting out a reminder to all folks in the world of rescue and sheltering, that the 2026 PetRescue Sector Survey closes this Sunday evening.

The survey is open to anyone - foster carers, volunteers, even the shelter receptionist - and we need to hear from as many people as possible.

This year, the survey is especially important as we will be using the data to inform some big projects I am working on this year to advocate for sector funding for preventative services (you know, they stuff we struggle to fund!).

When a client's dog is involved in an incident or declared a regulated dog, do you know how to support them? Each year, over 20,000 dogs across Australia are reported to councils for behaviour-related incidents, triggering time-sensitive processes and compliance requirements that may last for the life of the pet. This webinar brings together the perspectives of an animal management leader, a behaviour assessor, and a trainer to provide practical guidance for behaviour professionals supporting clients both immediately after an incident and in the longer term.

It's almost time for the April Behaviour Rounds - hope to see some familar faces next Wednesday for a great chat about pain and behaviour!

This month we have invited Rehabilitation Vet Dr Christina Rock BVSc.CCRT (Happy Hound Vet in Southland & Otago NZ) to join us for the discussion!

Christina emphasizes a team-based approach & whole- health perspective in help her patients live their best lives, with an amphasis on pain identification & management.

As pain is inextricably intertwined with behaviour, she often works at the intersection of behaviour and physical health, especially musculoskeletal health.

Outside of work she enjoys canisports with a rather niche approach in participating with Greyhounds. Her current main project dog is a recently blind young ex-racer, Ekko
