📣📣📣 Info Night Details for the BFG!

All children aged 5-16 with a love for performance are invited to audition for our 2024 children's performance of the BFG by Roald Dahl.

Want to know more?
There will be an information night on Wednesday 1st of May from 6-7:30pm for interested children and their parents/guardians.
At the end of the info night, if you as excited as we are about being a part of our show, you can book your audition time!

For Term 1, the Reading Club created something pretty special.

Over 7 weeks, they created their very own community magazine which included interviews with local businesses, articles, reviews and more.

I couldn't be more proud of their hard work and the level of enthusiasm in which they tackled this massive project.

A fantastic opportunity for teens!

Love reading? Like free books? Live in Australia and are aged 14-19 years old?

Applications are now open to join our Readings Teen Advisory Board, starting in April 2024 and running until March 2025 over Zoom!

The Readings Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a volunteer group of teenagers that meets once a month to learn about careers in the book industry, chat about recent and forthcoming young adult books, talk with authors, write blog posts and short reviews, and provide feedback to Readings staff members and publishers on a range of subjects. Select books will be provided free of charge to the board throughout the year and posted out to individual members.

This year, The Reading Club has been buzzing with creativity and learning! We've dived into the world of fictional settings and created dioramas, explored Australian Folklore, First Nation People stories through mini canvas paintings, and even created our own Viking Runes for Norse Mythology Week!

With two weeks left till the end of term, there's still so much fun ahead and i can't wait to share what our main focus has been this term.

Our Christmas Storytime was a huge success! All sessions were fully booked and all the kids had a wonderful time.

We read, We're going on an Elf Chase, which was a real favourite and each of the kids helped me find those cheeky elves that were hiding.
The next Christmas book was The Christmas Pine, one of my favourite new Christmas tales by Julia Donaldson.

The rest of the session was filled with drawing and painting, colouring and cutting, Christmas music and candy canes, baubles, the Grinch and two cheeky Elves who kept hiding my things! Luckily, the children were all excellent finders. 😊

A big thank you to The Romsey Community Co-Op for hosting us and for the excellent coffee!

Thank you to all who joined us and helped me to create it into the success it was.

We're so much more than just a book club.

This past year we've achieved so much. From creating our very own play which included designing our own set, costumes and props to a night out at the theatre to watch Peter Pan for our Peter Pan week.

We are not a book club.

We are a team. A club. A place where kids can come and talk their hearts out about their favourite books. A place where they can discover new tales and adventures, learn about poetry and comics, read inspirational stories and philosophy and challenge them in their reading.
We discover new worlds and old ones. We're a place that allows kids to be themselves and surround themselves with knowledge and learning and participate in activities, crafts and games that will leave them excited and proud of their creations.
A place where they can form friendships with like-minded students.

We're not just a book club. We're so much more.
