Wheelchair Basketball Session

Registration: Her Path to Play - Wheelchair Basketball Hobart



This session is designed for women and girls of all abilities to come and try wheelchair basketball in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. No experience is needed and we supply the specialist equipment needed for the program.

Her Path to Play is about experiencing wheelchair basketball. It is a chance to connect with other women and girls, build confidence together, and be part of a supportive community on and off the court.



The session includes:

* Expert coaching drawing on lived experience and coaching in adaptive sport

* Specialist equipment supplied

* Introductions to other women and girls with physical disability in your local community



Who can play:

Wheelchair basketball is suitable for people with a wide range of physical disability, including spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, limb difference, amputation, leg length difference, MUSCLE WEAKNESS/IMPAIRED MUSCLE POWER AND RESTRICTED JOINT MOVEMENT/IMPAIRED PASSIVE JOINT RANGE.

Girls aged 12 – 18 must have a parent or caregiver in attendance.

💙 Social Heart Park is getting a makeover.
🩵 Do you like the new look?

We’re replacing the old sports court and skate park with a new multi-sports court.

The new full-sized basketball/netball court with soccer goals will be surrounded by smaller social areas where people can sit, relax, watch the action, and hang out.

Located near the Clarendon Vale Neighbourhood Centre and Clarence Plains Child and Family Learning Centre, the new park will be an exciting space for our young people to use and enjoy.

For your information: More to follow on this as we are currently reviewing our policy to align with new restrictions. The majority of students at Bayview do the right thing already but there are a few students who will have to make some changes.

Tasmanian schools are tightening mobile phone rules after DECYP removed the option for students to keep switched-off devices on them during the school day.

Devices must now be stored away from students, usually in a school office or secure location, instead of in bags or pockets.

A DECYP spokesperson said principals must restrict phone use during school hours, with exemptions for health conditions or learning support.

Some schools are using lock boxes, including Rosebery District School, where students hand in phones, earbuds and headphones by 9am before they are stored in the office until 2:40pm.

Yesterday, with the help of Tranmere and Clarence Plains Land and Coast Care, Bayview students and staff planted more than 850 edible native plants in our new Bushfood Garden!

Our Landcare and Agricultural Enterprise classes have worked incredibly hard to prepare the site. Students have designed the garden, created pathways, constructed garden edging and spread almost 5 tonnes of mulch.

At the centre of the garden, students have constructed a stainless-steel ring planted with native grasses. This space will become the site of a yearly cultural burn, providing an opportunity for students to learn about cultural fire practices and the important role of fire in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

Some of the plants were grown right here at Bayview by our students from seed and cuttings. This is just the beginning. Keep an eye out for even more Tasmanian native plants being produced in our new native plant nursery throughout the year.
