In life skills we have been exploring the concept of mail. We have been practicing addressing letters, posting them and watching the journey a letter takes to get to its destination. We currently have a school post box set up in room 2 for students to send each other letters and postcards. We have also been learning the process of doing our own laundry from start to finish, practicing booking various appointments and grocery shopping. Students really enjoyed setting up an ice-cream shop and role playing being a server and a customer.

In cooking we are utilising our new life skills kitchen and all the appliances that we have been lucky enough to get. I will be posting the recipes we make each week as students have enjoyed many of the foods we have made.

In celebration of science week and its "seeds" focus we planted some blueberry bushes in our sensory garden and are germinating some seedlings to add to our garden. The students are very excited to watch them grow! In support of science week we used a cake mix to make orange and poppy seed muffins in cooking this week.

This week Room 21 have been exploring the story of Hey Di**le Di**le for Talk for Writing. For our hook lesson we pretended to be detectives trying to figure out who made the noise by matching the ‘suspect’ to the silhouette! We used our detective skills under the guidance of Detective Ramsey of Scotland Yard!

AusAlert National Test - Monday 27th July 2026
AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, the government will need to test the system across Australia.

On Monday 27 July at 12:00pm AWST, your mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert.

The message will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds. If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.
