TRYATHON 2026! 🎉

Our students ran, walked, skipped and danced their way around the Tryathon field today to raise money for Telethon!

Our school fundraising total is currently sitting at $40,444 and continues to grow!

Rockingham Senior High School's 2026 Tryathon is officially underway!

The excitement kicked off with a fantastic opening ceremony and visits from some very special guests including Director General Jay Peckitt, Magenta Marshall MLA Member for Rockingham, Mayor Lorna Buchan and School Board Chair Patchara Weggers, plus everyone’s favourite Fat Cat.

Students, staff, and the wider school community have already shown incredible enthusiasm and commitment to this year's event. A standout achievement has been the outstanding fundraising effort, with our school not only reaching but exceeding our fundraising goal of $35,000. This remarkable result reflects the generosity, teamwork, and community spirit that make Rockingham Senior High School so special.

Some of our Year 12 students started the day bright and early with a memorable sunrise beach gathering, taking the opportunity to celebrate their final weeks together and create lasting memories.

The fun continued at school with a splash of pink for Pink Shirt Day and plenty of creativity on display for Anything But a School Bag Day! It was fantastic to see our students embracing the spirit of friendship 🌸🎒☀️

TRYATHON – ONE MORE SLEEP! 🏃‍♂️

The countdown is ON! Just one more sleep until our 2026 Tryathon!

We are currently sitting on an incredible $35,088 raised for Telethon – and our total is going up by the minute!

A huge well done to everyone who has fundraised so far. Your efforts are making a huge difference!

Meet our Competitive Runners! 🏃‍♂️

While students will be walking, running, skipping and dancing their way around the Tryathon field, some students have signed up to competitively run for Telethon7 Perth over the 5 hours, with their laps being counted throughout the day!

We wish all of our competitive runners the very best of luck! Bring on tomorrow!

Year 8 ACE Camp – Point Peron, Camp Fairbridge! 🏕️

What an incredible two days for our Rockingham Senior High School Year 8 ACE (Academic Curriculum Extension) students! This camp is all about building community, teamwork and resilience while stretching their academic skills through hands-on workshops — huge thanks to Murdoch University Outreach Program, Camp Fairbridge staff and our amazing Student Services team for making it happen.

DAY ONE
Students kicked things off with THREE brilliant Murdoch University workshops:
🎯 Game Theory – exploring the science behind logical decision-making and why it matters in economics and social sciences
💰 Save the Business – a high-stakes, highly interactive challenge managing cash flow and investments to keep a business afloat
🔍 Criminological Profiling – stepping into the shoes of a profiler, separating fact from fiction to crack a crime scene

Then it was outdoors for archery 🏹 and a campsite scavenger hunt, before wrapping up with a seriously fun quiz night hosted by Mr Ettridge and Miss Roche! An action-packed day of learning and adventure. ✨

DAY TWO
Started strong with a wellbeing and team-building workshop from Student Services' Miss Di and Miss Murphy, setting students up for success.

Then back to Murdoch Outreach for more brain-bending fun:
🍡 Business Innovation Strategies – marshmallow pyramid building! Teamwork and innovation in action
🎬 Maths at the Movies – cracking codes, solving perimeter & area puzzles and unlocking a lockbox to score a (fictional!) movie ticket

After lunch, students got hands-on with Fairbridge staff for more team-building and a lesson in sustainability in the garden 🌱

What an incredible send-off to three epic days of camp! Our final morning started with a hearty bacon and eggs breakfast in the open deck dining area of camp, fuelling everyone up for the day ahead.

We then took part in our second Student Services workshop led by Ms Murphy and Mr Jones, focusing on great, resilience, perseverance, and empathy as we navigated a series of team challenges and puzzles— the perfect way to reflect on everything we've learned together over the past three days.

To finish camp in style, students tackled vertical challenges and indoor rock climbing at the Point Peron campsite gymnasium . A big thank you to Paddy and the team of Fairbridge Camp instructors for encouraging our students to reach for great heights! 🧗

The day wrapped up with a well-earned lunch of hamburgers and chips before boarding the buses home with Mr Samble and Mr Watson.

What an epic three days it's been — our Year 8 Extension students have pushed their academic limits, climbed to new heights, and shown incredible encouragement to their classmates along the way. So proud of this cohort and the dedication of the staff supporting them! 👏

We are very excited to announce our 2027 School Captains, Kavindi Perera and Walter Wear, and Vice-Captain, Luca Brewster-Webb!

This year, we introduced a new selection process that gave the school community a greater voice in choosing their leaders. Candidates delivered speeches to their peers, took part in a student and staff vote, and completed an interview with our selection panel.

We are incredibly proud of all the students who put themselves forward and represented themselves so well throughout the process.

Congratulations Kavindi, Walter and Luca! We can’t wait to see what you bring to our school community in 2027.

The countdown is on to Tryathon! 🎉

Our staff and students are getting excited, and there’s not long to go!

We are also so close to reaching our $30,000 fundraising goal for Telethon7 Perth! A huge thank you to everyone who has donated and fundraised so far. Over the past 14 years Rockingham Senior High School has donated over $550, 000 to Telethon.

Congratulations to Year 10 RSHS Rugby League Academy student Zane Murray on this outstanding achievement!

History made.

15-year-old Zane Murray has become the first West Australian teenager signed by the Perth Bears, joining the club on a three-year Elite Emerging contract through the Perth Bears Tracks Academy.
