RGS BOARDING STAFF:
Will Patterson is very familiar with RGS Boarding - he first arrived from the Springsure district as a boarder himself in Year 8. Let's find out more about Will!
✨How did your journey in Boarding start?
"My boarding journey began in 2009 as a Year 8 student at Rockhampton Grammar School. Those five years as a boarder were very memorable, having created many friendships that continue today. Ten years after graduating, I had the opportunity to return to the school in Term 3 of 2024, this time as a boarding supervisor. It’s been special coming full circle and being able to support the next generation of boarders in the same place that once supported me."
✨ What do I love most about boarding?
"The people. Hands down. I love the connections with the students and their parents, and the strong sense of team among the boarding staff. Boarding creates a unique community where you get to see young people grow, support each other, and become more independent. Being part of that is the best part of the job."
✨ What do you enjoy when you are not working in Boarding?
"Outside of boarding I enjoy carpentry, spending time with family and friends, and pretty much anything outdoors. Whether it’s working with my hands on a project, getting out into nature, or just catching up with the people who matter most, those things help me recharge and keep a good balance."
✨What cartoon character would best reflect you and why?
"The Road Runner. I’m always on the move, usually busy doing something, and I tend to be fairly reserved. Meep meep!"
