Our young authors in the making! ✍

Today, we were excited to welcome author Josh Donellan to Rocky State High for a creative writing workshop as part of our Little Scribe partnership.

Joining our students were budding young writers from our feeder primary schools, all eager to explore the magic of storytelling.

With Josh's guidance, students discovered how to bring their ideas to life, developing interesting characters, imaginative settings and their very own unique stories.

The best part? These aspiring writers are working towards becoming published authors!

A big thank you to Josh for inspiring our young storytellers and helping them take the first steps towards seeing their own words in print.

💙Supporting positive mental health at Rocky High

Beginning our Mental Health week awareness, we were pleased to welcome Headspace through our gates to connect with students and start important conversations about looking after our mental health and wellbeing.

Students had the opportunity to visit an interactive activity station, pick up giveaways and, most importantly, engage in conversations around the importance of taking care of themselves and knowing where to turn when they need support.

A big thank you for our Support Team for organising the visit and for the work they do throughout the year to ensure our students and staff feel supported, connected and well looked after.

Small conversations can make a big difference. 💚

Rocky High Student voice at Parliament House 🌟

Towards the end of Term 3, our First Nations Captain Leah travelled to Brisbane for her final meeting as a member of the Ministerial Student Advisory Committee (MASC).

Leah joined student representatives from across Queensland to discuss important issues shaping education, including artificial intelligence, the digital world and active citizenship, before heading to Queensland Parliament House to meet with Minister of Education and the Arts.

We are incredibly proud of the way Leah represented Rockhampton State High School and the regional student voices at a state level, sharing her perspectives while developing her leadership and advocacy skills.

Congratulations Leah!
