and writing stories. We track their reading levels into early chapter books and on to independent readers so that by the conclusion of Grade 2 our children are ready to read to learn rather than still learning to read. For students in Grade 3 to Grade 6, the focus is on consolidating basic skills (tables, operations, comprehension and genre writing for example) and extending these skills in line with the child’s ability. We do not believe in placing a ceiling on our expectations for any of our students including the socially or cognitively disadvantaged. Once the student reaches Junior High School our focus changes somewhat to support them across their school’s curriculum, in their class work as well as in helping to develop skills in tackling assignments with the aim of achieving confidence and independence. Our Senior High School students are supported in specific subjects (such as English, Mathematics A, B and C, Physics and Chemistry) to achieve the best possible outcome in their school exit statements. For all of our students, there is the wish to share with them a love of learning and the confidence to pursue and achieve a positive learning outcome.
