At Girls Grammar, we believe learning and growth extend far beyond the classroom, and we love celebrating the achievements of our students wherever their passions take them.
This week, we proudly congratulate Year 9 student Isabella, who achieved outstanding success at the Queensland State Levels Championships, taking home gold in both Level 4 Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline. This was Izzy's first state-level medal in Double Mini Trampoline and her second state-level medal in Trampoline, making the achievement even more special.
Behind every medal is dedication, perseverance, countless hours of training and a commitment to pursuing excellence. We are so proud to celebrate Izzy's achievements and the determination that helped her reach this milestone. Well done Izzy!

Our Year 8 Geography students enjoyed a fantastic day in Yeppoon as part of their Coastal Landscapes unit.
Students explored the coastline, observed a variety of coastal landforms, and completed detailed field sketches to support their classroom learning.
The excursion provided a valuable opportunity for students to see geographical concepts in action and develop their fieldwork skills in a real-world environment. There were plenty of steps involved as students walked along Double Head Point investigating coastal features, finishing off with lunch on the beach and an ice cream.

What a fantastic Science Week! From planting seeds and exploring the world of bees to observing the sun, uncovering secret science and enjoying spectacular demonstrations, our students embraced every opportunity last week to investigate, discover and learn. Thank you to our staff and facilitators for bringing this year's theme, "Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All", to life.

Interhouse Netball Week delivered an exciting week of competition, school spirit, and plenty of friendly rivalry as students battled it out on the courts each lunchtime, proudly representing their sporting houses.
The competition was closely contested between Smith, Downs, and Williams, while Patterson remained undefeated throughout the preliminary rounds to secure their place in the finals. Despite Patterson's impressive run, it was Williams who produced a surprise performance in the grand final on Thursday, dominating the match to claim the Interhouse Netball title.
As the week progressed, so did the banter, with players and supporters getting behind their houses and building anticipation for Friday's crowd favourite, the annual Staff vs Year 12 match.
The Staff certainly talked a big game before stepping onto the court, but by the final whistle, they were left facing the reality of a determined Year 12 side. The seniors controlled the game from start to finish, refusing to give up their lead. Even some questionable tactics from the Staff, including producing their own red card, could not stop the students from taking control.
In the end, the Year 12s emerged victorious and, more importantly, walked away with the ultimate prize: the bragging rights for another year. Congratulations to all students and staff who participated throughout the week. The energy, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship on display made Interhouse Netball Week another memorable event.
"The Wider View Status"
It's kind of a big deal... apparently.
Mr Fuller, once known for quoting passages at assembly from The Wider View by Betty Cosgrove, now carries on a special tradition. The Wider View by Betty Cosgrove is a book about the history of Rockhampton Girls Grammar School and the generations of students and staff who have helped make the School what it is today. Each year, Mr Fuller selects a Year 12 student, who has demonstrated exceptional passion, commitment, and dedication in their role as a senior student, to write a message in his personal original copy of the book. This year, the usually quiet tradition generated a surprising amount of noise.
Cocurricular Prefect Katie had her sights set on earning the honour in 2026. To seal the deal, Mr Fuller set her one final challenge: get the entire school to say something in unison, she would be crowned with "The Wider View Status".
During the Interhouse Choir Assembly, Katie rose to the occasion, encouraging the whole school to join in Mr Fuller's infamous "Polywonger" chant. This peculiar, and admittedly slightly confusing request, was enthusiastically embraced by the entire school. The moment served as a wonderful reminder that even the smallest things can become memorable when an entire community comes together in support of one another. Congratulations Katie!

Year 4 had a wonderful experience this week when our students went to the Symphony of Stories event at Rockhampton Regional Library with author and illustrator Peter Carnavas, author of our class novel Leo and Ralph!
Students had the opportunity to watch Peter bring his ideas to life as he drew, shared how he brainstorms stories and illustrations, and gave us a fascinating insight into the creative process behind his books. The experience became even more engaging when the Rockhampton Youth Orchestra accompanied Peter as he read excerpts from Leo and Ralph.
The music brought all our favourite parts of the book to life. A huge thank you to Peter Carnavas, the Rockhampton Youth Orchestra and Rockhampton Regional Library for an unforgettable experience!

It was great to see so many students and staff supporting Flanno for Farmers last Friday!
From flannos and work shirts to a morning tea of sausages and fairy bread, our community came together for a wonderful cause - raising funds for Farm Angels and the vital work they do to support farming families across Australia.
A special thank you to our Year 12 volunteers and catering team for their support in making the event possible.
