Yesterday we welcomed the Emmaus College Cultural Dance group to our service!

It was an incredible morning filled with rhythm, culture, and community connection.Our children and educators loved watching the wonderful performances before jumping in to learn the dances themselves!
This interactive experience was a beautiful way to celebrate National Reconciliation Week, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of cultural traditions.

Members of our team attended the Yeppoon Candlelight Vigil last night and the Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Awareness March today.

We stood alongside our community to support those affected and remain dedicated to raising awareness about the deep impacts of DFV.

Creating safe environments starts with showing up and speaking out.

Together, we can help prevent domestic and family violence. 💜🤍💜

TBMMBEKIND

Today, our centre came together to honour what should have been beautiful Murphy’s 3rd birthday.

Sadly Murphy never had the opportunity to celebrate a birthday.

We wore our Be Kind shirts, shared cupcakes, and held Murphy close in our hearts.

We are so proud to be working alongside to spread kindness throughout our community and participate in Murphy's Month.

We are dedicated to helping her mummy’s message, Be Kind, be shared through our children, families, and community.

Yesterday, Miss Teearna and Miss Lacey stepped out into the community to attend the Strong Start Community Expo!

Organised by the wonderful team at Rockhampton Children and Family Centre.
This fantastic event focused on Education ,Health & Wellbeing and Family Support.

Our team had a wonderful time chatting with local community organisations and connecting with our community families.

Together, we are building strong children and brighter futures! ✨

Today we held a heartfelt ANZAC Day ceremony, made extra special by a visit from Corporal James. He proudly led our march, which was followed by a moving performance of the Last Post. Our children then took turns laying the beautiful wreaths they had spent time creating.

To honour the day, educators shared personal photos of family members who served in the war. Corporal James also shared stories and photos from his deployment in Iraq, showing the children the Chinooks and tanks he worked with.

The highlight for many was exploring his army pack. He showed us the essential equipment soldiers carry, from water bottles to helmets. The children were full of curiosity and asked many thoughtful questions. Corporal James explained the important role the Australian Army plays in keeping our country safe.

We felt incredibly privileged to have Corporal James visit our centre. We extend a sincere thank you to him, and to all our soldiers, for everything you do.

Big things are happening for our club! 🥋✈️

We’re incredibly proud to announce that four of our dedicated students Randal, Katie & Therese Stackpoole, and Tanielle Brannigan are heading to Sydney to compete in the very first One Legacy International Taekwondo Federation General Choi Cup! This is an amazing opportunity to represent our club on an international stage, and we couldn’t be more excited to see them step onto the mats and give it their all.

Hopping Good Time at Natural Wonders Frenchville! 🐰✨

What a wonderful way to end the term! Our Easter Bonnet Parade and morning tea were a huge success, and it was so special to share the morning with our lovely families. 🐰🍰

From the incredible Easter bonnet creations to the delicious food, and a special visit from the Easter Bunny, we had a fantastic time celebrating everything Easter. There were so many excited faces, big smiles, and lots of fun as the children enjoyed the celebrations! 🐣🍫

Today, our team had the privilege of participating in cultural awareness training with Darumbal Elder Uncle Wade Mann. At Natural Wonders, embedding Aboriginal culture is a continuous journey of learning, respect, and deep connection.

Uncle Wade reminded us that family is the heartbeat of this journey. Understanding our own families and listening to the stories of others allows us to walk together with true empathy. We spoke about how vital storytelling is—whether through spoken word or in art and paintings. Every stroke tells a story of history, land, and identity.We see this so clearly in our children. Every piece of artwork a child creates is a chapter of their own story, a reflection of their world and who they are becoming. By honouring their stories, we honour the history they will one day carry forward.

The experience was eye-opening, covering everything from traditional ways of living to the painful truths of the Stolen Generation and Stolen Wages. Uncle Wade’s message is a beautiful reminder that we are all connected through the land we share, learn and grow on. By showing deep respect for the earth and every person on it, we take the most meaningful steps toward reconciliation and honoring the stories that connect us all."

A highlight for today was hand-crafting clap sticks from native timbers—a skill and a story we look forward to sharing with the children in our care.

We finished the morning with a heartfelt yarning circle where we shared individually what we learnt from today. As Uncle Wade reminded us: "We can't change history, but we can do things better."
