If you’ve spent anytime at our Rockhampton Swim Schools or Southside Aquatic Centre you may have seen her:

👀 On pool deck as a Lifeguard
👀 Teaching our next generation as a Learn to Swim Teacher

But this week, she’s been wearing the green and gold and making Australian swimming history.

Amelie, a Splash Performance athlete coached by Shane Kingston, has just become the Junior Pan Pacific Champion in the 200m Breaststroke, smashing out a 2:24.71 Junior Pan Pacific Record.

From working and training on our pool decks in Rockhampton to standing on top of an international podium for Australia.

What we’re looking for is someone who genuinely loves working with children, brings great energy to the pool and wants to help provide skills that last a lifetime.

To join our team, you’ll need:
✅ A Blue Card
✅ First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain them
✅ A nationally recognised Swim Teacher qualification

Not qualified yet? That’s okay.

A Swim Teacher course would normally cost between $300 - $400. As a Splash employee, you’ll pay just $240 to complete your nationally recognised qualification.

Meet Jack 👋

Jack’s journey with us started many years ago, not as an employee, but as a child learning to swim at Splash.

He later returned as a Lifeguard at Rockhampton Southside Aquatic Centre, where he continued to grow, took on more responsibility and stepped into a Team Leader role.

Now, Jack is packing his bags and heading to Glenden to take on his biggest opportunity yet as Facility Manager of our rural aquatic facility.

From learning to swim with Splash, to now leading one of our facilities, Jack’s journey is a pretty special example of where a first job in aquatics can take you.

It’s a big move, a big challenge and a huge opportunity to grow, both personally and professionally.

It’s goodbye from our Southside team for now. You’ll definitely be missed, Jack, but Glenden is very lucky to have you.

We’re incredibly proud to see one of our own taking this next step and can’t wait to watch you make the facility your own.

Some Splash stories take almost 14 years to come full circle.

Mitch is part of the Splash legacy, a much loved former Learn to Swim teacher and coach who has gone on to become a Senior Cardiac Sonographer.

Today, Mitch returned to Splash alongside several of our past teachers to jump back in the pool and lead a special professional development workshop for our Rockhampton Learn to Swim team.

The focus was connection and why the relationship a teacher builds with a swimmer can matter long after the lesson has finished.

Sitting in that workshop was Flynn, now one of our own swim teachers.

Almost 14 years ago, Flynn was the little boy in Mitch’s arms, learning to swim at Splash. Today, they recreated that same photo, this time as two swim teachers.

From being taught by Mitch to now teaching the next generation himself.

If ever there were a photo that showed the lasting impact of a great swim teacher, this is it 🥹

Two Day Pool Lifeguard Course
Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 August
9:00am–4:00pm
Southside Aquatic Centre, Rockhampton
$375 — includes First Aid + CPR

Once qualified, you can apply to start working with Splash from next week.

Casual Lifeguard rates start from $19.23/hr for under 17s, increasing with age to $34.96/hr for adults, with higher penalty rates for eligible weekend and public holiday shifts.

With early mornings, daytime, afternoon/evening and weekend shifts available, it’s a great job to fit around school.

This Sunday, our Splash team is coming together at Stockland Swim School for a special professional development session focused on something that sits right at the heart of great swimming lessons… connection.

And we need some swimmers to help us!

We’re offering FREE Learn to Swim lessons this Sunday 16 August as part of the session. You can already swim with Splash or be completely new to us, everyone is welcome!

2:00PM – 2:30PM
8 x Babies 1 — 6–18 months (parent participation in the water required)
3 x Starfish — 2.5 to 4.5 years, not yet swimming independently
4 x Rainbow Fish - 3.5+ years, able to rocket independently
4 x Platypus - beginning freestyle and ready to add breathing
4 x Octopus - freestyle with side breathing

2:30PM - 3:00PM
4 x Rainbow Fish — 3.5+ years, able to rocket independently
4 x Platypus — beginning freestyle and ready to add breathing
4 x Octopus — freestyle with side breathing
4 x Stingray — freestyle, backstroke + introduction to butterfly kick
5 x Frog — full laps of freestyle and backstroke without putting their feet down, plus developing butterfly and breaststroke skills

A little more about this special session 👀

These lessons form part of a professional development session for our Learn to Swim team. A larger group of Splash teachers will be poolside observing the lessons before continuing their PD session once lessons finish.

The session will also be photographed and videoed for training and Splash content, so families participating will need to be comfortable with their child being photographed and filmed.

Our teachers will be focusing on connection, how we build trust with our swimmers, help them feel safe and confident, and create an environment where they’re ready to learn.

Our Splash Performance Rockhampton athletes have wrapped up a massive week at the 2026 Hancock Prospecting Queensland Short Course Championships.

And the results are seriously impressive:

🔥 72 Top 10 finishes
🔥 90 Top 20 finishes

A huge congratulations to Annaliese, Ashton, Mackenzie W, Hunter, Jordan, Jaime, Oliver and Rana on their podium finishes, along with every one of our Rockhampton athletes who raced at State Championships.

These results don’t happen by accident. They’re built through early mornings, hard sessions, consistency and a lot of determination from our athletes.

A massive effort from Head Coach Shane and Coach Jared too. Their experience, commitment and the work happening within Splash Performance continues to produce some incredible results.

And of course, to the parents and families behind our athletes, thank you. There are a lot of kilometres, early starts and sacrifices behind a weekend like this.
