Today we proudly wore our jeans to support Jeans for Genes Day! It was a wonderful opportunity to introduce our little learners to the idea of kindness, helping others, and being part of something bigger than ourselves. Every small act of support helps make a difference for families affected by childhood genetic conditions.

☀️🌈 Learning through Light, Colour & Discovery 🌈☀️

Today we explored the magic of natural sunlight using our translucent wooden blocks. As the sun shone through the colourful shapes, it created beautiful reflections on the carpet that sparked curiosity and wonder.

The children loved placing their hands into the vibrant colours, talking about the different shapes they could see and confidently identifying the pink, blue and green colours. By moving the blocks and watching the coloured shadows change, they were discovering early concepts of light, cause and effect, colour recognition and spatial awareness through hands-on play.

Open-ended resources like these encourage children to investigate, problem-solve and learn at their own pace while embracing the beauty of nature as part of their everyday learning. 🌞✨

🌱🌽 Gardening is a wonderful hands-on learning experience for young children! Today, we have been nurturing our garden and watching our plants grow from tiny seeds into thriving produce. Through gardening, children develop patience, responsibility, and an understanding of where our food comes from.

Gardening provides so many learning opportunities, including:
🌿 Building fine motor skills through digging, planting, and watering.
🌿 Encouraging curiosity and a love of nature and the environment.
🌿 Supporting early science learning as children observe plant life cycles and changes over time.
🌿 Promoting healthy eating habits by introducing children to fresh fruits and vegetables they have helped grow.
🌿 Developing responsibility and confidence as they care for living things.
🌿 Providing opportunities for sensory exploration through different textures, smells, and sights in the garden.

There is something truly special about the excitement and pride children feel when they harvest produce they have grown themselves. We can’t wait to enjoy our homegrown corn soon! 🌽💚

🫐🌿 Our Blueberries Are Blooming! 🌿🫐

We are so excited to see our blueberry plant covered in beautiful little blossoms! 🌸 These tiny flowers are an important stage in the growing process and will soon develop into delicious blueberries for the children to enjoy. 🍇✨

Gardening provides children with wonderful hands-on learning experiences. Through caring for our plants, children develop:
🌱 Patience and responsibility as they water and nurture living things.
🪴 An understanding of where food comes from and the importance of healthy eating habits.
🔍 Curiosity and observation skills as they watch plants change and grow over time.

🍓🌱 Today we embraced sustainability and gardening by giving an old fruit container a new purpose! ♻️💚

Instead of throwing away our plastic fruit container, we transformed it into a mini greenhouse and planted strawberry seeds! 🍓🪴 The children loved filling the container with soil, sprinkling in the tiny seeds, and learning about what plants need to grow – sunshine ☀️, water 💧, and lots of patience ❤️.

Activities like this provide so many wonderful learning opportunities for young children:

🌱 Encourages environmental awareness by teaching children the importance of reusing and recycling materials.
🖐️ Develops fine motor skills as little hands scoop soil and carefully place seeds.
🔍 Promotes curiosity and scientific thinking as children observe the plant life cycle and predict what will happen next.

Today our little learners enjoyed sharing interactive books together, exploring colourful pictures, turning pages, and pressing sensory features. Reading together is a wonderful way to build language skills, strengthen concentration, encourage curiosity, and develop early literacy foundations.

Shared reading also promotes social connections as children learn to take turns, engage in conversations, and enjoy stories alongside their friends. These special moments help foster a lifelong love of books and learning. ❤️

☕️🍰 The Power of Pretend Play 🍰☕️

Today we enjoyed some beautiful pretend play as our little learner carefully prepared and served a delicious morning tea! Using the wooden tea set, she poured tea, arranged food on the tray, and used her imagination to create her own special café experience.

Pretend play is so much more than fun—it helps children develop language skills, social confidence, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of the world around them. Through role-playing everyday experiences, children learn to communicate, negotiate, and express their thoughts and feelings in meaningful ways.
