π Monthly June Scheme Playgroup β Firefighter Theme π₯
What an exciting morning we had at our monthly Scheme Playgroup a few weeks ago! The children were thrilled to discover that this month's theme was Firefighters.
They enjoyed exploring a variety of fire-themed activities, including sensory play, fire trucks and an obstacle course. The biggest highlight, however, was the arrival of a real fire truck! π
Our local firefighters showed the children the equipment they use during emergencies, explained how they help keep our community safe, and even gave everyone the chance to:
π¦ Spray the fire hose
π Sit inside the fire truck
π¨βπ Meet and chat with real firefighters
The smiles, excitement and curiosity on the children's faces said it all! Experiences like these help children build confidence, develop an understanding of community helpers and learn through hands-on exploration.
A huge thank you to our local firefighters and our Scheme Playgroup team as well as Miss Sharna for providing such a memorable learning experience. β€οΈ

βοΈ Hello, Winter! βοΈ
At the beginning of June, we started exploring Winter after the children noticed that the early mornings and evenings were becoming much colder. Their observations sparked wonderful conversations about the changing seasons and what happens during winter.
Throughout the week, the children participated in a variety of winter-themed activities that encouraged them to learn about the season, the weather, and how people and animals adapt during the colder months. Through art, sensory play, books, and discussions, they explored what winter means while developing their understanding of the world around them.
It has been lovely to see the children's curiosity and excitement as they continue to observe the changes happening in nature and connect their learning to their everyday experiences. βοΈπ

π’ World Turtle Day π’
At the end of May, we celebrated World Turtle Day with a week full of fun, hands-on, turtle-themed activities! π
Throughout the week, the children enjoyed learning all about turtlesβwhere they live, what they eat, and why it's important to care for and protect them. Through creative play, sensory trays, art, stories, and discussions, they explored these amazing creatures while building their knowledge of the natural world.
It was wonderful to see the children's curiosity grow as they asked questions, shared their ideas, and discovered more about these incredible ocean animals. ππ’

π Catching up on our posts... π
World Bee Day 18th - 22nd May.
In May, we celebrated World Bee Day! The children enjoyed exploring a variety of bee-themed activities throughout the week, learning all about these amazing little pollinators.
They discovered what bees do, where they live, and why they are so important to our environment. We also talked about simple ways we can help look after bees and protect their habitats.
It was a wonderful week filled with learning, creativity, and a greater appreciation for the busy bees that help our world bloom! πΌππ
