Our VM students have been busy putting their entrepreneurial skills into action as part of the Social Enterprise Schools program. Students were challenged to develop their own business idea connected to a cause they care about, before pitching their concept to our very own panel of “sharks” - Mitch, Caroline and the ACRE team. Once given the green light, it was over to the students to make it happen! They have designed their products or services, purchased supplies, organised bookings, created advertising and are now ready to start selling. Along the way, students are developing valuable real-world skills in communication, teamwork, budgeting, organisation, problem-solving and enterprise.

Most importantly, all profits will be donated to charities and community organisations chosen by the students, including Yalukang Aged Care, our local football club, cancer research, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and mental health support organisations.

- Charles F & Cyril G are selling boxes of kindling - perfect timing for getting those outdoor firepits up and running!
- Michael G, Curtis H & Darcy M are designing and making firepits - just in time for the warmer evenings ahead.
- Sophie J, Charlie G & H are creating customised badges featuring your favourite photos, quotes or designs.
- Alicia D is designing and making beaded bracelets.
- Hunter H & LiamHC are putting in the elbow grease and offering a car washing service.

Keep an eye out for more information about how you can support our students and their social enterprises - buy something great, support our VM students and help them give back to causes that matter!

🧡 FOOD SHARE DRIVE — TWO WEEK BLITZ STARTS SOON! 🧡

Rochester Secondary College is teaming up with Rochester Community House to support their amazing 'Food Share' program — and we need YOUR help!

From 30th August – 11th September, we're running a two-week community blitz packed with ways to give back:

🥫 Donation Boxes — drop off non-perishable food items at locations around Rochy (30 Aug – 11 Sep)
🌭 Sausage Sizzle — grab lunch at RSC on Monday 1st September, proudly donated by the Rochester Lions Club
🧁 Bake Sale — treat yourself at RSC on Friday 11th September (and we'd love your baked goods donated too!)
👕 Casual Dress Day — RSC students, wear your casual clothes on Friday 11th September

Every donation — food, cash, or baked goods — goes straight to helping local families through Rochester Community House. Let's show what our community can do when we come together! 💪

On the 7th of August, a number of students from our year 9 Duke of Ed class volunteered as 'officials' at St Joseph's primary school inter school cluster athletics carnival. Students are able to use opportunities like this to contribute to their hours of volunteering to achieve their overall Award.

St Joseph's primary school spoke highly of our students who successfully ran the shot put pits for the day.

Yesterday’s whole school assembly covered a range of topics, but we also took the opportunity to recognise our Athletics Day Age Champions.

A huge well done to all our champions! Your effort, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day was fantastic.

And a big shoutout to everyone who got involved - whether you competed, cheered from the sidelines, helped out or simply got behind your house. Athletics Day is about much more than sport; it’s about coming together as a school community and showing your house pride.

Thank you once again to everyone who helped make the day possible. It was a great day because of you!

Round 9 done and dusted!

The Times Tables Rock Stars crew have been at it again, chasing faster times, sharpening their multiplication skills and, most importantly, giving it a go. Week by week, we’re seeing students build confidence, beat their personal bests and get more comfortable with their times tables.

It’s awesome to see the friendly competition and determination continue across the school.

A huge thank you to Adam Doolan and Jake Childs from Doolan Finance for their ongoing support of the program and for helping us celebrate our students’ achievements.

Well done to all of our Round 9 award recipients. Another round down, another step forward. Keep rocking!
