Our VM students have been busy putting their entrepreneurial skills into action as part of the Social Enterprise Schools program. Students were challenged to develop their own business idea connected to a cause they care about, before pitching their concept to our very own panel of “sharks” - Mitch, Caroline and the ACRE team. Once given the green light, it was over to the students to make it happen! They have designed their products or services, purchased supplies, organised bookings, created advertising and are now ready to start selling. Along the way, students are developing valuable real-world skills in communication, teamwork, budgeting, organisation, problem-solving and enterprise.
Most importantly, all profits will be donated to charities and community organisations chosen by the students, including Yalukang Aged Care, our local football club, cancer research, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and mental health support organisations.
- Charles F & Cyril G are selling boxes of kindling - perfect timing for getting those outdoor firepits up and running!
- Michael G, Curtis H & Darcy M are designing and making firepits - just in time for the warmer evenings ahead.
- Sophie J, Charlie G & H are creating customised badges featuring your favourite photos, quotes or designs.
- Alicia D is designing and making beaded bracelets.
- Hunter H & LiamHC are putting in the elbow grease and offering a car washing service.
Keep an eye out for more information about how you can support our students and their social enterprises - buy something great, support our VM students and help them give back to causes that matter!
