I was the first parks superintendent at Melton & started the first council nursery there in the 1970's - great to see Melton still moving ahead. There are volunteer groups like this growing & supplying plants all over - they need your support and sometimes you find all sorts of species grown by these volunteer groups that you might not find elsewhere.

Diversity is celebrated in society - but what about skills?
Diverse skills in a workplace will mean more people approaching a job in a greater variety of different ways. When the work team has diverse backgrounds, they think about issues more creatively, can see issues "outside of the box" and critical judgement skills are better. HOW to get this diversity? Build work teams that have more variety in their training/ education and experience.

A good online course should be constantly reviewed and updated - changing to reflect the changing world (new information and changing needs). We do that; some other colleges do, some don't. e.g. Yesterday we revised our Viticulture courses to reflect some of the new technologies being adopted related to precision agriculture.
We are now looking at developments in autonomous vehicles on farms, and adding that information into relevant courses. The world continues to change at an ever increasing pace - which is both exciting, but also challenging for educators like us, to keep our courses in line with those changes.
