War On Waste - Port Fairy

PFFF are thrilled to announce that a TOMRA Cleanaway Container Deposit Collection has been installed at our sheds at Awabi Court in Port Fairy.

While we can't start using it right away, mark your calendars and collect your containers for the official launch on the 1st of November!

This is a fantastic initiative to promote recycling and sustainability across Victoria, and another way PFFF are striving to support the community and reduce waste. For more information and updates, you can visit https://cdsvic.org.au/

TOMRA's world-leading Reverse Vending Machine technology will scan and verify each container as it's deposited, and then provide options to the user to either receive the amount through a retail cash voucher, via digital transfer direct to a bank account, or for the amount to be sent as a donation to a nominated charity or community group.

Seems like a sad but common story with the world’s “recycling” programs. As always, not using plastic in the first place is preferred. Could this bad news could be a good reason to push forward the Moyne PURE and start closing the loop on some of our own soft plastic waste?

The company behind soft plastic collection points at Coles and Woolworths supermarkets has admitted it has not been recycling the items.

And finally we join the rest of Australia! But not until 2023!

And finally we join the rest of Australia! But not until 2023!

A cash-for-cans and bottles scheme to combat Victoria’s recycling and waste crisis will be introduced by the state government.

The Moyne PURE project presented to the Port Fairy Community House committee last month with a request to partner with them to bring our plastics recycling facility to life. We were requesting the following:

1. a location
2. partner for grants applications
3. a sales and promotions partner.

Good news is that PFCH have agreed to act as an auspices organisation for us which will let us get stuck into our grant applications and business plan refinement. They will also help us sell and promote our products.

A big thanks to PFCH for this exciting offer!

This also means that we are still looking for a location and we'd love suggestions.

My visit to Transmutation in Robe to check out their Precious Plastic project. It was great to spend some time with Brad Scott and pick his brains about how he's put together his impressive facility in just 6 months! Looking forward to putting together a similar project in Moyne before the end of the year.

First post! The Moyne Pure project aims to set up a precious plastics facility somewhere in Moyne Shire. We believe we can help tackle our plastic recycling woes. Let's turn some Moyne plastic waste into useful stuff!

The project is currently at planning stage and we're looking for grants. Suggestions welcome!
