2027 STUDENT LEADERS | Last week, the student leadership journey continued as candidates for the 2027 Academia, Arts, Culture, Social Justice and Sport Captain roles took to the stage. Each student spoke with clarity and conviction, weaving personal experiences into their speeches and expressing genuine enthusiasm for their chosen leadership area.

Yesterday, we celebrated the official announcement of our 2027 Academia, Arts, Culture, Social Justice and Sport Captains.

We warmly congratulate the following Student Leaders:

SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND (SEQ) METROPOLITAN NETBALL FINALS | Our College netball teams enjoyed a successful day at SEQ Metropolitan Finals. Along with our Year 7, Year 10 and Open Girls teams, who qualified after their CISSSA premierships, our Open Boys team also participated in these finals.

At the conclusion of all pool games, all four of our teams finished top of their pools, which saw them play Semi-Finals against Corinda State High School - Year 7, Redcliffe State High School - Year 10, Trinity College - Open Girls and Stretton College - Open Boys.

In a tight Semi-Final, our Year 10 team lost by just one point. However, Semi-Final results went our way in the other three grades, which meant the Year 7 team faced Wavell State High School, the Open Girls played Morayfield State High School and the Open Boys took on Bellbird Park State High School in their respective Grand Finals.

This is a huge achievement for the College, not just to have four teams qualify for the Semi-Finals, but to then have three teams in Metropolitan Grand Finals.

The Year 7 team lost their Grand Final by the narrowest of margins just one point. But, as they have done all season, they continued playing smart, determined netball right until the final whistle. The future of netball at Claver looks extremely bright from this cohort.

The Open Boys also finished runners-up, but their teamwork and heart proved that they are not to be underestimated. They are fast building momentum for a successful 2027 netball year.

Finally, a huge congratulations to our Open Girls, who were crowned undefeated SEQ Metropolitan Finals Premiers. With the score level at 9 a piece at half time the girls came back on court with a dominant display of Netball, taking out the match 24-12.

Photo Day Schedule:

• Wednesday 26 August 2026 – Co-Curricular and Arts Team Photo Day – Va Pasifika Centre.
• Thursday 27 August 2026 – Sports Team Photo Day– Va Pasifika Centre.

All students must be in the correct uniform to participate. Please refer to the email sent by the College to parents/caregivers and students with more information and the timetables for these Photo Days.

CULTURE EVENING | Our annual Claver Culture Evening is back! Organised by a team of passionate students, this event provides an opportunity for our culturally rich and diverse student community to share their vibrant spirits and what makes their cultures special with the Claver community, as well as their family and friends.

- Time: 5.00 pm for shared refreshments, followed by cultural dance performances from 6.30 pm – 7.30 pm.

WHITE CARD TRAINING OPPORTUNITY | Congratulations to our Year 10-12 students who recently completed their White Card training, delivered by RTO Inscope Training and facilitated by experienced trainer Trish Unverzagt.

This nationally recognised qualification provides students with essential workplace health and safety knowledge required for working on construction sites across Australia.

- Industry-recognised certification.
- Valuable employability skill.
- Ideal for students considering trades, apprenticeships or construction careers.

COLLEGE MUSICAL | And that is a wrap on Claver’s 2026 production of Matilda The Musical Jr! What a fantastic production our cast, crew and staff delivered across four spectacular, funny, witty and cheeky performances.

The Claver community is in awe of everyone’s talent, focus and dedication to bringing this musical to life. Audiences raved about the quality of the show, saying it was like ‘QPAC had been brought to our humble Centre’.

A big thank you must go to show directors Jason Nash, Riarne Tucker, Grace Litzow and Music Director Sally Linneman Grennan. We would also like to thank everyone else who helped in some way, including our Technology Department for the sets, Admin for all their support, our front-of-house helpers and CMD Creative Designs for the microphones and sound.

COLLEGE MUSICAL | Following an amazing opening night last night, our very talented students will again take to the stage for their second performance of Matilda The Musical Jr.
