This week, we were lucky enough to welcome the Parliament of Tasmania Education Office to RPS, where they delivered engaging, hands-on workshops with our Grade 6 students.

As part of their current inquiry into; Why do people stand up for their beliefs?, students stepped into the shoes of Members of State Parliament, debating issues that mattered to them and experiencing the parliamentary process firsthand. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop their understanding of democracy, respectful debate, and active citizenship.

A huge thank you to the Parliament of Tasmania Education Office team and our special guests for supporting this valuable learning experience.

This term our Grade 1s have been inquiring into how to care for special places.

One of the ways they wanted to take action was to work with Riverside High School so that we could all work together to look after our special places.

What a fantastic day we had on Wednesday, with our northern schools from the TASLC (Tasmanian Learning Commission) coming together at Riverside for their Midway Pitch.

This was an opportunity for schools to share their learning, celebrate progress and strengthen one another’s improvement journeys.

We love being a part of this work - students are genuine partners in school improvement and are sharing their voices, ideas and leadership in meaningful ways.

A huge thanks to Dr John Cleary and Summer Howarth for leading such a thoughtful and inspiring day.
