Meet Harrison 🎶

Harrison joined the National Boys Choir of Australia in 2019, spending two years in the Training Choirs before progressing to the Performing Choir, where he is now in his sixth year.

For Harrison, one of the best parts of being an NBCA Chorister is sharing the experience with friends and performing some truly memorable music. His favourite piece so far is This Little Babe, performed in 2023.

“I liked the canon throughout the whole piece, and it had an interesting feel," he recalls.

Harrison's Choir highlights include performing his first Carols in the Cathedral concert with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic, touring New Zealand for the World Choir Games and, most recently, featuring on a recording of Nimbus, a new work by local composer Scott Folley.

Away from singing, Harrison plays hockey and euphonium and is even learning to become a pilot!

His advice to boys thinking about auditioning?

“You should definitely consider joining because it’s a great opportunity to make new friends and sing with a great choir.”

Every NBCA journey begins with an audition. Registrations are now open for our 2027 intake auditions on Saturday 24 October. Visit our website to learn more and register: https://nationalboyschoir.com.au/audition-registration

Through Dad’s eyes 💙

Earlier today, we celebrated all the wonderful dads and father figures who support our Choristers behind the scenes.

After a recent rehearsal, we caught up with Siddhartha (Sid) Mishra and his dad, Saurabh, and asked Saurabh to share a few words about his son.

What followed was a pretty special Dad moment, filled with pride and some very kind words about Sid.

A fitting way to finish our Father’s Day celebrations, and a sentiment we’re sure is shared by many of our NBCA dads and father figures 🎶

Happy Father's Day to all the incredible dads and father figures in our National Boys Choir of Australia community 💙

Thank you for the rehearsal drop-offs, the enthusiastic audience applause and sausages cooked for our fundraisers.

Your encouragement, generosity and behind-the-scenes support help make every rehearsal, performance and opportunity possible for our Choristers. The National Boys Choir wouldn't be the same without you.

We hope you have a wonderful Father's Day celebrating with your families 🎶

Could your son add “singer” to his list? 💙

Every performance is a chance to grow 🎶

From the very beginning of their journey, our choristers have the opportunity to perform in front of live audiences, building confidence, teamwork and musicianship with every experience.

Alongside our own concerts and tours, members of the National Boys Choir of Australia are also regularly invited to perform with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, appear on television and radio, and take part in one of the year's most treasured events, Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

It's these experiences, and the lifelong memories they create, that make being part of the choir so rewarding ✨

If your son is aged 7 to 9 and loves to sing, registrations are now open for our Saturday 29 August Elementary Choir auditions. Visit our website to find out more and register.

Audition FAQs ❓

What actually happens at an audition?

The audition is designed to be relaxed and welcoming. Boys will simply listen to a few notes played on the piano and sing them back. There's no need to prepare a song or have any previous singing experience. If our team would like to hear a little more, they may ask your son to sing something familiar, such as Happy Birthday.

The most important thing is to come along, give it a go and enjoy the experience ⭐

Our next Elementary Choir auditions will be held on Saturday 29 August at our Ringwood Studios.

We’re now welcoming registrations for our upcoming Elementary Choir auditions on Saturday 29 August.

If your son is aged 7 to 9 and enjoys singing, this is the perfect opportunity to explore music in a fun, supportive and inspiring environment. No previous experience is required.

As part of the choir, boys develop confidence, build lasting friendships, perform in concerts, learn from experienced music educators, and become part of a community that has been inspiring young singers for more than 60 years.

Every chorister’s journey begins with an audition, and we’d love to welcome the next group of young voices.
