Still one of my favourite combo drills 🔥
Breath control + vibrato control… at DOUBLE TIME. 👀
Your warm-ups don’t have to work on just one thing at a time. Train smarter, not longer.
Using one long breath on Ah + Ee vowels, switch your vibrato ON and OFF while keeping the airflow steady:
✅ Breath control
✅ Diaphragm engagement
✅ Vibrato flexibility
And the best part? You can tweak it endlessly. Change the rhythm, tempo, vowels, or dynamics and suddenly it’s a whole new challenge 🎶
Save this for your next warm-up session, and follow for more intentional vocal drills 💡
Same notes: F, G, A, B flat, C, D, E, F - an octave from F to F gives you F Major.
Now, use the same notes but starting from D to D, and you get a D Natural Minor.
Let’s explore different types of minor:
Harmonic Minor - add a raised 7th note -> C sharp
Melodic Minor Ascending - add raised 6th and 7th notes -> B natural, C sharp
Melodic Minor Descending - remove raised 6th and 7th notes -> returning back to the natural minor
A relative is one that shares the same key signature (in this case, F Major and D minor with one flat).
You can find any Minor key from its relative Major by counting down 3 semitones (using 3 letter names).
Which pair should be explore next?
Let’s add some notes to our rhythmic drill and turn it into a Vocal Ex with Solfege!
This one works through:
- Crotchets and semiquavers
- Minor Scale
- Solfege
Turn a simple vocal exercise into a strategy to build musicianship.
Why can’t we be intentional and do more, in less time?
Challenge yourself with this set of rhythmic drills.
This one focuses on semiquavers.
Let’s start with practicing them with rhythmic syllables.
Then, let’s see if we can add a melody to build it into a vocal Ex.
Building your reading skills one drill at a time!
Grade 1 Theory - Pitch
Tools: Acronyms
Theory isn’t about memorising random answers… it’s about knowing what tools to use 🧠🎶
In this one, we’re breaking down:
✓ Accidentals
✓ Acronyms for Treble and Bass clefs
✓ Counting ledger lines
Music theory gets SO much easier when you stop guessing and start recognising patterns ✨
Save this for your practice folder, and follow along as we work through theory questions from Grade 1 upwards 🎼
Bedbound… but then I saw this challenge and just had to give it a go 😅 Thank you
What’s the fun in waiting until you’re better anyway? 😂
Wouldn’t normally change a song this much, but as a vocal exercise this was SO fun. Loving all the major/minor shifts 🎶
One breath challenge… would you attempt it? 👀
Level up your warm-up game with this Breath + Vibrato Combo!
Why work on one skill at a time when you can train both together? 👀
This exercise targets breath control and vibrato control in one intentional warm-up.
Take one long breath on an “Ah” or “Ee” vowel, and watch how this exercise helps you to:
✅ Activate your diaphragm
✅ Build control and stamina
✅ Turn up your vibrato control
