✨ Panels & Guest Speaking ✨
Marena Whittle works tirelessly to bring awareness to the importance of finding the balance between mental toughness and being kind to yourself.
Speaking from experience, she discusses strategies to overcome the visible, and more importantly invisible barriers we face every day when trying to succeed.
Her career, which began in Melbourne has included the following;
• 5 years in American D1 College
• 1 Commonwealth Games Bronze Medals
• 7 years & counting WNBL career
• NBL1 Championship
• FIBA 3X3 Asia Cup Gold & MVP
After looking at what she’s achieved so far in her ongoing career, we’re not surprised she’s so good at this.
Pictures below were taken at SEDA Colleges SA International Women’s Day Luncheon in which Marena spoke on the importance of taking up space and standing your ground in the corporate and sporting world. She is passionate about inspiring current & future generations to take advantage of every opportunity they can to succeed.

✨KEEP IT SIMPLE✨
When things aren’t working out perfectly on the court, in whatever way that may be, try not panic.
Small, simple adjustments can make the world of difference!
This can be applied to all aspects of basketball, but when it comes to missing shots, ask yourself questions like these;
• Are my hands correct?
• Am I balanced before & after the shot?
• Is my shot straight?
• Am I breathing properly?
By honestly asking yourself questions like these and practicing the adjustment, you’ll start to understand the different feel between a good shot and bad shot. Especially when you practice a good shot as close as you need to (yes, as close as the charge circle 😜)
Practicing these mental checklists will help players adjust to missed shots quicker, and build strong shooting habits that will lead to a consistent, in rhythm jump shot.

🚨PLAYER ANNOUNCEMENT🚨
Not that you needed another reason to get down to Norwood Secondary College tomorrow night when the Hawks host the Kilsyth Cobras, but we will give you one anyway.
We are delighted to announce that Marena Whittle has re-signed with the Ringwood Hawks NBL1 South Women's team for the 2023 season! 🏀🔥
“To have Ree back is very exciting for our club. She had such a special season last year with All-League selections in both NBL1 South and the NBL1 National Finals, an NBL1 South Grand Final MVP performance and we continued to see her accomplishments representing our country on the 3x3 stage” Coach Jeremy O’Toole said.
“Ree brings an unmatched level of energy and enthusiasm for the game that our group just feeds off. She has become a pivotal leader for us and I feel the best is yet to come. She continues to get better, adding elements to her game and that is so exciting for our fans, who adore her”.
“We’re very lucky that she loves it here and has developed such special relationships that she wanted to return and chase another championship with our group. With her level of play and physicality, we are confident that this year can be another exciting journey and we look forward to seeing Ree’s continued dominance in this league” Coach Jeremy O’Toole said.
Welcome back, Marena!
