Embracing culture across our centre is a key priority. In our three-year-old kindergarten room, our teacher has been developing labels for items that reflect the diverse languages spoken. Educators and families are invited to contribute by translating and writing words in their home languages.

To celebrate National Reconciliation Week 2026 and this year’s theme “All In”, we set up a community art drawing experience alongside the book Finding Our Heart.
We warmly invited children and families to contribute to our collaborative artwork and share their ideas about how we can build reconciliation, respect, kindness, inclusion, and stronger connections within our community.
Through art, conversation, and shared learning, we hope to encourage children to reflect on caring for others, valuing different cultures, and walking together toward a more respectful future for all.

What our families say about us!

Today, we are so fortunate that one of our 4 year old kindergarten family has kindly shared their baby budgie birds with us to become our new centre pets. The children are very excited to welcome them, choose names, and help care for them each day.
Over the coming weeks, the kindergarten children will begin researching and learning more about budgie birds — who they are, what they need, and how we can care for them safely and gently. The 4-year-old kinder children will participate in daily care checks, learn about safe foods for budgies, explore the different parts of a budgie, observe their behaviours, and help keep their environment clean and comfortable.
The birds will also visit different rooms throughout the week so that all children across the centre will have opportunities to engage in learning experiences and interactions with them.
The budgies will join our much-loved rabbit, Duoduo, as part of our growing community-engaged learning experiences. The more learning we share together, the stronger sense of belonging and connected relationships we build within our Ringwood community.
Thank you for being part of our busy learning journey. We love seeing our young children so engaged and connected within their learning environment.

Over the weekend our Toddler and 3 year old kinder yard had a bit of a make over, removing a large bush for the middle of the yard.
This sparked a discussion among the children and teachers, what can we do with this empty space?
After much discussion it was decided that we would make it into bush tucker garden.
So today, 8 children with 2 teachers went for a walk up to the local garden Centre, Branch out Nursery, to pick out some plants to put in the garden bed. Upon their return the children and educators, placed the plants out in the garden bed and then started digging.
As the plants begin to grow we will continue to put more plants in as required.
We are looking forward to being able to eat all the different bush tucker plants they we have.

Designing Our “Tango” Building Together
Children recently showed a strong interest in building with blocks and large soft blocks. To support children’s learning and creativity, we provided a workshop experience focused on designing and constructing buildings together.
The experience began with sharing images of famous landmarks from around the world. Children were encouraged to observe and discuss what made each landmark special. They confidently identified shapes and features in the structures. For example, children noticed that the Great Pyramid looked like a triangle, the London Eye was a circle, and the Hundertwasser House was colourful. One child shared that the Statue of Liberty looked like “someone holding an ice cream.” This discussion supported children’s observation skills, language development, and understanding of shapes and design.
After the discussion, we brainstormed ideas about what is needed when designing a building. Children contributed many ideas including walls, windows, doors, chimneys, roofs, balconies, and flags. This encouraged children to think critically and share their knowledge and experiences.
Children were then invited to collaboratively design a building. Every child contributed ideas to the plan. Once the design was completed, children reviewed it together and agreed on the final design before beginning construction using recycled materials and loose parts.
Throughout the process, children were encouraged to work collaboratively, share ideas, and communicate their thinking with others. Teachers provided support only when necessary to extend children’s learning. At one stage, some children became focused mainly on decorating loose parts in the box. The teacher gently suggested using larger boxes first to create a strong foundation before adding smaller details. Children responded positively to this suggestion and began constructing the main structure with large boxes. During the building process, children regularly referred back to their design to check whether their construction matched their original plan.
The entire learning experience lasted approximately one hour. At the end of the project, children gathered together to reflect on their work and celebrate their achievement. They proudly named their building “Tango,” explaining that the colourful design gave them a feeling of movement and energy.
We are incredibly proud of the children’s teamwork, creativity, problem-solving skills, and persistence throughout this experience.
